How to Fix Leaking Valve Cover Gaskets on a Ferrari F430

This Ferrari F430 and other Supercars are for sale at our dealership, NG Supercars. Check it out! https://www.ngsupercars.com

The Ferrari F430 (and other Ferraris) can have valve cover gaskets that leak. Unfortunately, it’s a pretty expensive repair, but it’s almost all labor costs. Our F430 Spider was leaking oil on to the headers, so we needed to get it fixed so we can sell the car to one of you! The job took about 2 days but we probably saved about $3-4k. Not bad.

What’s with the gold heat shielding (assuming that’s what it is) on the underside of the engine compartment lid? I’ve never seen that before on the spiders… is that normal?

Nitro Fish11 says:

Like the song that was with the time lapse

you could try what I am doing :
is modifying a stand-up truck creeper. kind of like a cot you can walk up to then it folds down 90 deg we are cutting it down it is too tall making it a little height adjustable so you can lie down on your stomach and reach down to work on the car engine !
it's pretty comfortable! cantilevered over the fenders, engine ! ! would be nice IF it was motorized to move left. right forward / back like wheel chair w/a joystick!
my back cannot handle hours bent over !
it IS easier to work on F430 if you are tall!

You keep saying valve cover gasket, I think you really mean CAM cover gasket. 😉 Hope to see you guys again soon. Love that 430 btw, and the red Cali! My wife loved the blue 430 at the grand opening!

Nice work Dan! I noped out of that job in my mind at you have to support the transmission and remove the A frame, lol. It would be cool to know what this job would cost from the dealership. I'm guessing $10K plus?

Chris Parker says:

Thank you for all the great F430 mechanical content!!

MuddyTub Media says:

The wheels on this car are sweet. Are they stock? If so, good job Ferrari

Dan, seeing you guys working in the shop, the place looks absolutely fantastic. A suggestion about the TV – make sure all of your electronics at work and at home are plugged into surge protectors. You don’t have to go crazy, decent isobar or apc units will protect the electronics from surges which occur when lightning strikes nesrby. I started doing this in 1991 and haven’t had a problem with failures like that since I did it.

pushrivit says:

Is that gold on the underside of the engine cover?
