You do not have to remove the pulley if you only need to change the reservoir. Look closely at 7:06; it is easy to get to that first screw without taking out the pulley. You only need to take out the pulley if you need to replace the actual power steering pump, like in the video. By the way, the same exact accident happened to me. Now, I am having to change the reservoir.
Ah ok. I figure I will take everything apart anyways to find out what else needs to be replaced. All I know is rad + shroud, power steering res, and hood. Hopefully nothing else tooooo big :S. Thanks for the info!
Very good videos. I keep searching the things that need work on and you keep coming up! Thanks so much. Rear ended a small SUV the other day, my bumper went right under theirs and the hood on the neon pushed right in so gotta figure out all what needs fixing. Just a quick question, I just need to replace the res, is this possible without removing the pulley? Thanks!
Why didn’t you show the part where you have to get those pump mount block bolts out. Is it because you did not want to use the vulgar language that comes with that process!! Shame on you for using impact on pulley remove tool! lol Just an ole Chrysler tech ribbing ya!
The only thing i know is that in most cases it is the pressure switch that is at fault but i would check the wires at the switch also. Those switches are located in the pressure line or the rack.
Do you know anything about a code PO551 ?I know it’s a code for the Power steering pressure switch or circuit. How do you test it,what kind of voltage, and where is the psps located? In the back of the pump? Thanks and like your videos.
Hello Rich, I noticed that you used a new pulley instead of the one that you removed. Why is that? Did the new pump come with a new pulley? Also, what is up with the make-shift cheater bar for your ratchet and hex key. Do you not have and XL long ratchet for more leverage? I did enjoy the use of the hose clamp pliers. It seems low-tech to use pliers. I would have like to see the actual removal of the bolts of the pump from the car (the ones with the feed-through holes). Great Videos!
Thanks Rick for replying back. It seems as if my harmonic balancer keeps wobbling from side to side and I have research parts for it however, there are to seals a front and rear. I just don’t know where they are located. If you could help with a video in the future I would be grateful.
Thanks
he sounds like peter griffin from family guy

Thanks for taking the time to show us this.

I believe there is one bolt under the pulley that has to be removed.
