Dodge ram van 3500 5.9L V8 Thermostat Replacement!
There really is no way to repair a thermostat. Just install a new one.
It’s an aggravating task though. Thanks Mopar, Chrysler…

i dont know yet, havent changed it but im thinking nothine needs to be remove EXECPT THE 2 BOLTS , PULL IT ALL OF AS ONE. THEN REMOVE CLAMP, KEY IS A 3/8 DRIVE EXTENTTION AND RACHET AND A LITTLE SKILL AND IT WILL COME LOOSE MAYBE USE SHORT STUDS IF ASSEMBLY IS TOO HARD. I WILL FIND OUT TOMARROW .
thanks, I can't stop your song running round in my poor brain pan..What are the actual words,,,
Taking the dog house out and removing the air filter lets you reach some of the bolts from the rear. Saves knuckles too.
Good video. Over the past nine years and 120k I've put two thermostats in my '94 with the 5.2 318. Both times I just pulled the accessory bracket forward with the alternator and A/C compressor attached. I've found it relatively easier to do it that way by cutting the top radiator shroud in half for removal and bridging the two pieces with custom brackets and bolts. Once the shroud is outta there there's room to give away and everything opens up
Brand new belt of 5 months = little reason to fully remove. Just loosen enough to get off the alt.
Also rec a Stant SuperStat brand tstat over Moto-rad fail-safe. The fail-safe will fail on the open side (a good thing) but they fail easily and far too early (not the better make and build). Go oem temp 195 for best results.
i love my ram van too man but everything really is a pain in the ass, man
got any videos of fuel filters I have no idea where mine is lol
What size socket for the thermostat housing?

On my friends old Dodge dart you had to drop the engine to get access to the last set of spark plugs. Same thing with replacing a windshield wiper motor on some Hondas.
