If you have your local dealer run the VIN number on the truck for you, they can tell you what it came equipped with. We carry new wheel hub bearing assemblies for all kinds of vehicles on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I NEED HELP ASAP! I have a 99 dodge Dakota club cab, 2wheeldrive, and I think its 2wheel abs because it doesn’t have any extra wires or anything going into the caliper. my question is, I need a wheel hub assembly for the right side (passenger side). ive seen different ones, there are some that have that triangle piece like the one that u pulled off in this video and ive seen some with a gear at the end and ive also seen some where its just a solid smooth look. idk what to get. PLEASE HELP!!

We’ll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

1aauto says:

It will help keep the axle in place so that you can properly torque the axle nut.

Raquel Rezendes says:

what is the point of lowering the vehical to the ground before tightening the axle nut and lug nuts??

maconhadalata says:

Great video, I’ve learned a lot from you guys. Thanks!

I ordered the hub assembly for my Dakota, it came with the abs sensor and was very inexpensive. Just installed it using this video, a little different but this video prepared me for what i was in for. I kept the video up on my phone while doing the install. Took me about 1.5 hours to complete and now my truck is riding good. no more squeaky squealing and the ABS/BRAKE lights are no longer lit up on the dash so I’m happy happy happy. Thanks SO Much for helping us DIY’ers!

i love your videos if anything needs replacing i’ll get input from my mechanic buddies and even if they’ve done it a million times or even helping me i’ll have your video up and running while replacing the part

If there’s play in the wheel then they are bad. I usually recommend replacing them in pairs, because if one is bad, the other one usually goes bad not long after the first one.

chvydrptop says:

Great video guys, question how do you know if your wheel bearing is bad? I just took my truck to the shop and the guy did the up and down pull on the wheel and then did the side to side. They said I only needed to replace 1 side. Should these get repaired in pairs? And how do you know its bad (how can you test)?

Sometimes well use the same part of one video to show you how to tackle another project. If your brake pads are fine, you can leave them in place while you tackle the hub. If they’re worn, now would be a good time to replace them while the pads are off.

brennerhandyman says:

Why is it necessary to remove the break pads from the calliper in this job? Great video. Thank you.

These hub and bearing assemblies aren’t serviceable. They come as a complete assembly.

luvkountry says:

I guess I didn’t make myself clear……Installing a new bearing into the old hub..I see the video shows everything one needs to know regarding the removal of the hub & bearing.
Do you have an instructional video that shows how to put a new bearing into the original hub…Re-installing the assembly is obviously the reverse of removing it…Thanks….

1aauto says:

You should be able to apply what’s shown in this video to your 99 Dodge Dakota truck. The Timken bearings are made very well. If you want to call our sales staff we can give you a price for your application over the phone. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Hi,
I’m wondering how we change out the wheel bearing in the hub on a 1999 dakota with no abs on the front…
There is quite a difference in the cost of a bearing and the hub assembly..with the bearing in it.
I’ve had a bad experience with certain cheap brand front end parts so I’ll ask if you can recomment the best front bearings to use for the 1999 Dakota?
Thank you…

1aauto says:

It should take you about 45min-1 hour per side.

trevorwlangston says:

how long did it take

1aauto says:

You need to remove it to gain access to the bolts that hold the hub assembly to the knuckle.

MrBlackraven2488 says:

Do you have to remove the axle to replace the assembly or didyou just choose to

toddincharlotte says:

I’m seeing 120 ft lbs for LD hub and 130 ft lbs for HD hub.
