Try Farmer’s Dog for 50% off: https://bit.ly/3Dz4pGX. My 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 has some serious rust issues. This is partly my fault, because I was never careful about washing off the salt after driving in it, but these Dodge trucks are also very prone to rust issues. This is part 4 where I tackle the worst rust area on the truck.

It does look pretty darn good! For a first timer, excellent…
Great Video! Thank you
Can't thank you enough for this as I have to do the same thing to my 1996 Dodge Ram Truck (that was gifted to me) by a close friend. I have been watching countless video's on how to restore the truck's body. Mechanically it is sound and has low mileage but the entire body needs work and a new paint job. I don't mind and am looking forward to it (learning body work, welding and auto painting). Considering it was free, a few thousand dollars is way better than $50,000+. New Subscriber!
Jon, is that an amber self-darkening lens on your shield?
I feel your pain on the fitment, however, don't let 'perfect' be the enemy of the 'good.'
Got to do some mild frame repair on my 4runner. Thanks for the 'plug weld' tip.
get a bottle of "tap-magic ep cutting fluid" itll cut smoother n save ur blades n discs bro. shit does wonders when cutting or drillin n tappin metal. night n day difference with that lil air saw. great work n great videos btw man i been binge watching ur series. im fixing to pull the bed off my old obs ford n cleaning her up. im up north n this old truck has been taken care of the best i can and ive done a good job but rust is a battle that cant be won. but it can be controlled n removed lol. perks of being a fab n welder!
It looks like that truck is ready for the junk yard
Really nice job…My Dodge has the same issue and needs the same work.
I was considering taking it to a body shop but after seeing what it involved to do a good job, it’s not going to happen.
They would rip me off and not do as good of a job.
After watching your video, I would be able to do it myself but I don’t quite have all the tools needed.
Starting with a lift…Doing this from the floor, my back wouldn’t survive.
Too bad, my truck is really clean and has a lot of life left in it but the cancer from the rockers will eat the rest eventually.
My Father would rise from the grave to shake your hand.
Just like a brand new truck now! lol. Great work!
Should have cut further up of the panels out of the way as the whole outer panel as one Peace it is a lot easier. Then you have a straight run to replace the inner center panel cutting it out exactly to the new panel. Less welding time. When center panel is in place do the under floor inner panel. Paint all inner panels . Lastly the outer panel prepainted on the inside clamp the new panel in place on bottom run mount doors on and check and or correct . Tack panel in place then cut off the oversized end pieces off old panel and link them up in the new panel. Saves a lot of Welding.
More FEMA than SEMA but ready nonetheless.
Without the shield.
John , dude, it's a farm truck, your not going for a "Concours" resto. please just cut out the rust and throw those new panels on. you're making it harder than it needs to be.
is that a kangal?
