No, I used a regular socket and a nice heavy duty breaker bar to get those bolts out.

Did u have to remove the axle to get to the three bolts on the backside of the hub?

I really don’t know what the torque would be for a 2007 – sometimes things change which drive these values from year-to-year. You should look for a service manual if you can find one to be sure of the correct value. You may also want to suggest to your dad to have the alignment checked. If something is out of whack it could be straining the bearings. Or, maybe check the spindle – it could be out of spec causing the excessive bearing wear.

what year truck was this? do you think the torque speck for a 2007, 4 wheel drive, would be 180 as well? my dad for some reason believed it was 140. but something aint right. because yesturday he put the 9th wheel bearing in his truck (4 on passenger, 5 on driver side) in the last 2-3 years. they only last like 5-10 thousand miles. i dont believe this can be right. i think he is torquing them wrong and they either have too much movement, or else are too tight and burning up…
