Is there a dorman oil housing in aluminum for 2014 dodge journey rt yet. Thanks great video

Jeremy DuBois says:

Just changed my oil yesterday… while driving at work today my "Low oil pressure" warning came on… went about 3 miles before finally pulling over and checking the oil level.. bone dry. Looked underneath to see if the oil drain plug fell out… nope, but oil was dripping from everywhere under the truck.. Looked up top,… it was the oil filter… took it off… yep, I had the O-ring all the way up top.
Just glad i found it when i did, hoping i didn't do any permanent damage to the engine.

Babi Krazie says:

Can you show where to find it in van plz

LET'S GO BRANDON says:

Clear & precise video instruction, doesnt get much better / thanks

Scott D says:

You are awesome. Never even thought about this. Thank you

john smith says:

Hey Dave, Here was my situation. Just bought a 2012 3.6. Went to change the oil and filter. Couldnt get the correct filter. Went to 3 different parts stores. All the filters were wrong. Finally called the previous owner only to find they had the filter housing that leaks was replaced and the dealer put in a newer model part! I looked up the part for 2014 model and sure enough the filter was correct. I dont know if this happened to other owners but i just wanted to point this out! Thanks

Super K says:

Thanks for the tip! I just installed the Dorman aluminum housing on a 3.6 and the owner has had it back for over 1 year. Now he says he has an oil leak. I'll be he misplaced the o-ring when he changed his oil.

Beezy90 says:

Is synthetic blend oil good to use in a dodge charger

Kevin Lawson says:

Thanks! I had searched for some videos to get an idea of what problems came up during ram 1500 oil change. None where the exact engine/year I had, so I did mine with no problems. Then I walked in the door from finishing and YOUR video just happened to be in the 'next' matrix of videos on my screen…so I selected it: OH FUDGE!!! I did place the oring at the highest groove, didn't pay attention when I took off the previous. I fixed it now before I got into any leak issues.

Austin Matthews says:

I have a 2013 200 with the 3.6 but my oil filter cap is the one shown as 2014 and up, does this mean my oil filter housing has been replaced before? I’ve always wondered why the wrong filter would show up when searching for my car but that would make so much sense

Scott Owens says:

Excellent job on letting people know about the oil filter issues that these vehicles have. I can see how easy it would be to put the o-ring in the wrong spot on the 2013 to the present filter housing, but it takes a good true mechanic to know that and pay attention to a little detail like that. It goes to show you that not just anyone can change oil in these newer vehicles. My step son and his wife are dealing with this issue right now, they had an oil change done on their 2019 Dodge Caravan and it has been leaking oil ever since they had it done. They took it to a place that does oil changes, transmission fluid, filter flushes and changes and they also detail vehicles any way you want, and so on. I won’t mention the name of the company but they are a nationwide franchise like any fast food restaurant. I sent them this video that you made so they would have the information in their back pocket so they can get the service they deserve.

Blue Horseshoe says:

Thank you! I was googling this very thing because it wasn’t clear if the o-ring went to the very bottom or not. Much appreciated for taking the time to make this video.

Good tip/ info on this…question..What's the best spark plug brand for a 2014 chrysler 300 3.6 engine?

L&S Hale says:

I arranged for a quick oil change at a local Chrysler dealership. When I started my 2014 Chrysler 300S after the oil change no warning lights stayed on. Drove a mile on a city street before I reached the freeway, where I am then going 70-plus mph. About 2 miles into the freeway drive the dash lights up like a Christmas tree, along with audio warnings. It seemed too dangerous to stop on the freeway. I got off on city streets as soon as possible, probably within a quarter mile. Shut the engine off and popped the hood in a parking lot and found smoke coming off the exhaust manifold and no visible oil on the dipstick. I called the dealership and told then to pay for a tow and to fix the problem at their expense.

The next day the dealership told me (1) they found some oil on the dipstick when they checked in the morning and (2) the problem was caused by a faulty gasket on the oil filter cap. The oil must of leaked out of the filter canister, onto the top of the engine, before it dripped down to the exhaust manifold. The dealership paid for the tow, another oil change, and cleaned the engine compartment. The engine noise now seems normal and performs as expected.

This could of been due to a defective gasket. It seems more likely the oil change technician misplaced the gasket. All it takes in one person making a mistake.

Harvey Nez says:

Thoughts on Baxter oil filter adapter, is it something good to invest in to prevent premature wear of the engine.

Panas RSM says:

Didn't even have to think twice where the oring will go in my 18 JKU, But ty for pointing out for those who are new to the scene and are trying to learn to change their oil.

Ernie Paone says:

Iv watched 6 or 7 video about the oil filter housing, it happend to me 3 yrs ago and this time it happened to Walmart, u explained exactly what happened to me twice, once by me and once by walmart, the other videos were non informative, thank u Ernie

comowhat? says:

Dumb question, Could you check on it before oil change. Figure since it's up there and upside down??

Seth Burkhart says:

Wow! Great looking intro clip! Great content too for that matter.
