Yep goes along way In the fight on sludge in an engine making sure the PCV
valves are working properly that’s for sure!!! My 2.4L caravan’s PCV went
bad and it had drivability issues and excessive oil consumption, changed
the PCV valve and problems gone and no more mysterious oil consumption
etc!!! 🙂
Bought a brand new LX in 2003, still running smooth in 2013, 220,000 km,
just reg. oil/filter changes, and be softer on gas pedal, never push more
than 3000rpm.
Thanks! I have a 2002 Sebring Convertible and I all of a sudden got a knock
in the engine. One of the things I read was that it was the PCV valve. The
other thing is the EGR valve-a little more expensive, and probably harder
to change. I’ll start with the PCV valve first. Thanks for the vid!
@MrRichierich1990 i know i should….but i like it too much…. all the
things that fail on this thing have been replaced at least twice in the
life of the vehicle…..but it will probably still die on me….. im
looking into buying a more reliable standard transmission vehicle.
I have a questions about my Chrysler Sebring 2.7, I just replaced the fuel
pump and it ran good for a few weeks but this morning I went to start it
and it wont turn over. 🙁 what ideas could you pass on to me to check? Im
stumped at this point
The 2.7 was a powerful efficient power plant. I own one in a 2002 GTC
5-speed; a warranty replacement with about 65K in it. My readings are that
the engine failed due to a build-up of sludge due to water pump seepage and
inadequate PCV valve operation. The sludge then blocked undersized oil
passages and caused the failures. Regular PCV replacement and and 4000 mile
oil change intervals using pure synthetic 0W20 (no typo) reduce the
probability of failures to zero. Start today.
this valve helps the unburned gas exit the engine. if the gas have no where
to go. it will find its way out on its on( causing leaks) sometimes even
cause the engine to began sluging up because the engine is not breathing
properly. most cars this valve is like a $2-$5 part. SWAP IT.
Just checked my PCV. It was beautiful! Ive had this car for almost 4 years,
and I havent even gone near it. It still had clean lube on it. I dont know,
I really like my sebring LXI, I say just keep up on the oil changes and
maintanence and sluge shouldn’t be a problem…
why?
i would still swap it out, just for the face that its only a $5 part, and
for something so cheap. If not replaced it can cause a HUGE issue.
