Dodge/Chrysler HID flicker/strobe fix HD

Tony The Truck Guy back for the cure on HID flickering/strobe issues on Dodge and Chrysler vehicles. Keep in mind that some companies also make HID kits that…

Jonathan Altieri says:

There are a lot of cars that come with HID’s in reflector housings, from the factory. Example, the old Acura TL’s etc. It depends on what kind of bulb you use and so on.

Jonathan Altieri says:

He must have forgotten, that some vehicles come with HID’s in reflector housings, from the factory, smh lol 😉

PkwyDr says:

Trust me i probably know more about lights and vehicles in general than you. Mine aren’t that bright and i’m not spending thousands on retrofits. If you’re gonna be a little bitch then buy a big boy truck instead of a prius you won’t get blinded then.

spoonerdee says:

Halogen housings scatter light, that creates glare, that makes it dangerous for oncoming traffic regardless of “aiming”. HID’s work at their optimum in projector housing which focus the light. In a halogen housing you aren’t even getting close to its full potential.

Ebay junk is ebay junk, that’s why you buy quality easy to install projectors from a place like retrofit source.

Do it right, or don’t do it at all. Keep the roads safe.

PkwyDr says:

Aftermarket projector housings = fail. Recon, ebay, it’s all junk. All you do is aim the HID’s and you’re good. Have only been flashed once since i put them in my Jeep 2 weeks ago, and that asshole got the LED light bar in their face too.

spoonerdee says:

HID’s in non projector housing = fail

PkwyDr says:

First off, how do you not have a lamp out or flicker issue? Some sort of resistors? Usually when you get one acting up like that it’s a ballast issue. Cheaper kits like Xentec are a gamble, by buddy had same ones 5 years, mine crapped out after a week so i just gave up and paid $150 for retro solutions HIDS, flawless and no resistors needed, lifetime warranty. You can try swapping your left and right ballast, if the light that didn’t work now works and visa-versa, you know it’s ballast.

Bulldog75stp says:

I have a question. I have an 08 ram with HIDs. My lights are not flickering and I don’t have a “light out” warning, but one light is hard to come on at times. I’ll turn them on and some days they work and other days it won’t turn on. Any idea what might be causing this? I’ve took the truck back to the shop 4 times to have them check everything. I’ve had new bulbs installed and such, but a week later, same problem.

PkwyDr says:

Good to hear. I don’t have this truck anymore but they got super hot they melted plastic lol.

holyluke says:

got er done today! looks bad ass! your vid helped a ton, one of the only ones on you tube where it was all laid out on the floor and went over inch by inch. we will see if it lasts the test of time though…. How hot do your resistors get? mine are freakin cookin, I riveted them to the fender and put a 2″x2″ aluminum heat sink on them and they are still pretty dam hot… I can touch them but only for a second or two max.

PkwyDr says:

Glad to help. Yeah for sure i was confused as hell with all the wiring at first, too be honest it’s easiest just to buy the Retro Solutions kit for $150, they are the best quality and have all the resistors built into the kits if necessary

holyluke says:

you rock! good vid! too bad its not an 01 diesel 🙂 but still very helpful and informative. I might just get this shit done. sooooooo confusing first time around.

PkwyDr says:

Good to know, thanks for the reply – good luck with them! VVME i think has a 1 or 2 year warranty, if a bulb quits working they just have you snip the wires and email them a picture showing “proof you destroyed” the “bad” bulb and they will send a new one, unfortunately this means putting the stockies in for the time being.

bfirecrafter says:

I was just wanting to let you know for future references. My VVME Bi-xenon 9007 8000k hid kit for a 2002 Dodge Dakota is working near perfect straight out of the box with the exception of switching the low/high beam wires. The only reason I say near perfect is because whenever I turn the lights off, it flashes my high beams then turn off. When I turn them back on they are back to low beam. No biggie. Thanks for the video and have a good day!

bfirecrafter says:

Thanks for replying. I get them from fedex next week. Hopefully I wont need anything otherwise I will buy the relay harness with built in resistors from the retrofit source and hopefully they will fix any problems lol.

PkwyDr says:

Not sure, I had a 55w VVME kit in my ’12 Ram with no add ons but you won’t know until it’s in.

bfirecrafter says:

I just purchased a kit from vvme for my 2002 Dodge Dakota. Do you think I will need anything extra or just what comes in the box. I got their standard 35w bi-xenon kit.

truckdoc47 says:

You make me laugh! Have a good day.

PkwyDr says:

HEY ASSFUCK, IT’S NOT CANDY IT’S A COUGH DROP FOR MY STREP THROAT SOOOOOOO SORRY! YOU DON’T LIKE IT? GET THE FUCK OFF MY CHANNEL AND LEARN TO FIX YOUR HEADLIGHTS YOURSELF FUCKSTICK.

truckdoc47 says:

Hey asshole when you do a video take the candy out of your mouth!

PkwyDr says:

Don’t have to but it’s a good idea to cap it with something to keep crap out.

Brandon Williams says:

Mine is a hi/lo also. How you said there’s a mganet that moves your bulb up. Mine doesn’t do that. That’s what I meant, sorry for the mix up. When you cut the connector off resistor do you need to cap them off.

PkwyDr says:

This IS a high / low beam set up. Or did you mean you have separate bulbs for high and low?

Brandon Williams says:

Thanks for the video this really helps me out. I have an 06 ram with the same bi xenon hid set up mine does the strobe, now I know how to fix it. I have high and low beams on mine that’s the only difference.

PkwyDr says:

Cough drop for my strep fuck face, come at me.

Gary Taylor says:

Any asshole who decides to make a video while chewing gum and smacking his lips should be shot.

PkwyDr says:

Not sure what brand you bought so i’m not sure how high of quality it is but yes they do make the resistors build into the relay harnesses sometimes and it’s actually kind off nice because it cleans the engine bay up a bit by not needing to plug in resistors.

AWSSSUCK says:

I just got myself Hid xenon conversion kit resistor relay wire harness anti flicker from eBay. I think is like 2 in 1..Do you think if it is good.thx

PkwyDr says:

Single light meaning low beam only? no high beam? you will still need the resistors on both the high and low circuit because the headlight system monitors resistance on both high and low beam circuit.

AWSSSUCK says:

If I m using single light 55w 6000k, do I need relay harness or Can I use both relay harness and anti flicker warning canceller.thx
