Chrysler blower resistor

Chrysler blower resistor

If your heater blower only blows on high speed, most likely the blower resistor is bad. But, to be sure you must test it. Here is how to find it, test it, an…

Pro-tip – never use the lowest speed.

Willie Jordan says:

thanks for the informative video. Far too often, people put out videos that
don’t show laymen like myself how to do things step by step. Your video was
an eye opener and was very well received. My uncle and myself now feel like
we can tackle this problem where before we had know idea what to do. Ain’t
the internet something else? Thanks again and happy holidays!!!!

Vinod Kareer says:

Thank you so much for putting up this video. I had exactly same issue with
my van. fixed my car heat following your step by step instructions.

Thanks a lot

MrZeddy100 says:

Thanks mate! Fixed!!!!!

THEBIGMADJOCK says:

Great video, fixed mine in no time at all. Many thanks.
Only one little issue, when on slow there was a small burning smell, could
this be newness??

2lookatthis says:

it seems the same problem. but the resistor went completely out.
no low
no med
no high
is still called the blower resistor ?

WhoSaidTyler says:

Something worth mentioning is, the resistor is mounted so that it projects
into the air stream to cool it. A resistor by design turns electrical
energy into heat energy and the resistor would burn up prematurely if it
wasn’t cooled somehow.

2005 Dodge Caravan. The front air doesn’t work at all and the rear only
works on high. They both went out at the same time. Any suggestions? Greaat
video. I just subscribed.

Steve Trischman says:

My 03 Town and County with automatic climate control just started blowing
high in any setting including off. Would this be the resistor, or something
else?

TEOEMELIO says:

my 2001 caravan blower does not work most of the time on any speed,I
changed the resistor and it still does not work. Any suggestions ?? thanks

dansw0rkshop says:

Dunno about the 2001, but my 1999 has it under the hood, behind/beside the
passenger side strut tower.

2TimothyChapter2 says:

Thank you for this, we have a 98 Stratus withe same problem. Now i know how
to fix it! You do a great service by posting these, thank you.

RocketHurtle says:

Haha, like an old tube radio.

utyouba says:

Many thanks for this video – it gives me hope ! I have a similar problem
except the blower only works at very very low, no matter how high the
swtich is set – could this be a resistor problem too ? (as you turn the
switch between off and low, you can hear some whirring like vents opening
up, then the slightest of breeze at any setting)

Fabio Baldan says:

Thanks it was easy and you guys must have saved me at least 100$. Please
keep posting videos it makes reapirs easier than books and manuals. Thanks
again

very interesting

Excellant descriptive video, first class presentation. your example should
set the standard.

merci exellent video explicatif

I have a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. I’ve seen videos of 2000 and 2002
models showing the resistor behind the glove box. I even called the dealer
and they said behind the glove box. However, nothing behind my glove box
looks anything like this. Do you have any ideas?

ban395641 says:

thank you, easy fix thanks to you

DustyBill says:

Is there any way of telling if a resistor is bad by looking at it on any
kind of circuit or board?

SilentServiceCode says:

it’s actually a series of resistors.

fishingfool100 says:

thanks your vidio saved me money by inabling me to fixi the prob myself

da324 says:

Thanks, that’s where I found it..

Blake Moreland says:

Thanks, just followed your video to replace the resistor on my ’07 caravan.
I had no blower at any setting, but thought I’d try this first as it would
be the cheapest fix other than fuses (which were fine). It works perfectly
now and cost less than $25 to do myself! Thanks again!

dixiebound1 says:

Thank you this video worked out for me saved me some $. Great job.
Excellent.

Pablo Gonzalez says:

Hi there, thank you for the video , its great, i tought my minivan town and
country limited 2001 had the same problems, and probably does, but i have
read the minivan have the automatic control module , i went to autozone and
the price is around 100 dlls , but i did not wanted to buy it until to be
sure the problem will be solved, I checked the two terminals of the motor
and both shows power, in one of the terminals plug of the motor shows like
when there is a shorcut, any idea

Jeff Docherty says:

Hey Manventure1..I’m not a mechanic but it sounds like it might perhaps be
the actual switch itself in the dashboard controls. When you turned it on
at one time, that may have been the last little bit of contact it had and
now it doesn’t contact when you try to turn it down/off. Worth a shot.

Manventure1 says:

Great vid, it looks like a money saving tool, however, my 01 LHS climate
control will only run on high speed and will not turn off, is this the same
part/ issue? Please help, I’m also having trouble with the power drivers
seat, the controls in any direction have to be constantly pulsed to make
the seat move by small increments, if this is as easy as you made the
resistor look, I look forward to doing it myself.

loganevh says:

Thank you very much for an awesome video. I really like the idea of pulling
the glove box down to do it. I would have never thought to do that without
your help. Thanks again.

apollozcreed says:

Awesome, simple fix once it is explained. Great video and please keep up
the great work.

Greg Campbell says:

Carefully check your wiring harness connection to the “bad” resistor pack.
My root cause was a bad connection that melted plastic & left a bad
connection that ruined replacement resistor packs. The “permanent fix” was
to bypass one wire that had heated up from the harness. I soldered a heavy
(12 or 14 ga.) wire directly inside the resistor pack & routed it “outside”
thru a tiny hole I drilled, then spliced it to the wire near the melted
harness connection using 1/4″ disconnects. Problem solved!

Frajercina says:

Thank You, very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ssooz says:

@youtubicator If even the highest blower speed doesnt work, it cant be your
blower resistor since the highest speed is not part of the resistor. Its a
right-through connection to the power source in order to give you full
power from the blower.

jbentley8383 says:

umm….you forgot to disconnect the battery….But good video!

Pablo Gonzalez says:

why is burning the fuse 40 amps , looks like the last owner have the same
problem because the cables of the motor looks like cut like when you taste
to see if there is power with the light tester
