Easy stuff, that’s me in the video, getting famous man !
I need to remove my 350, where the hell do i start? It’s a 89 IROC-Z
i’m gettin ready to pull my engine outta my truck and have no idea where to
hook the chain up to… :/
get 2 bolts same size but an inch to inch and a half longer than normal,
stick a washer on them and bolt right through the chain into the head
through the intake or bolt tot he front and rear of the head. cross the
chain over the engine left-right so it’s diagonal and hook to it right over
the carb hole. Take off the carb, fan, and distributor cap. comes right out
with the right tilt then have a freind lift up on the back of the tranny to
get it over the radiator support as you roll the car back
did you sell that 350 engine
The engine on my 72 El Camino SS just blew out and I’m am planning on doing
this exact thing. Any tips?
nice job. I have a 305 v8 with 700R Trans in my 68 camaro since 1986. Trans
leaks through rear seal from sitting too long in dry CA for extended
periods between running. So my trans is caked too. Want to swap for a 350
with Turbo Trans.Any suggestions on what to cleaner spray on it before
pulling it out?
You know, whenever I need a hand from one of my “buddies” to do this kind
of work, I can never get them to answer the phone. Oh, but when they need
their car or truck fixed and have no money, my phone rings off the hook.
i have a lot of trouble out of my motor mounts in my pickup. they are not
the same kind as yours but i really would like to get some tips to help me.
they are the ones with the through bolt and the 2 pads. have to get them
perfect for the bolt to thread.
nice video there dude. im working on my ’65 el Camino. im just about to
pull the motor. one question is did u take off the drive shaft? and im sure
ill have more question as i work on it. its a big restoration project i got
going on.
nice job of pulling the engine out man
what all had to be taking off before actually pulling the motor, the
distributor, carb, headers and what else
i’ll be famous man….lol
I had a 454 with a 4 speed in a 71 firebird with a 2.73 rearend> I was
getting maybe 15 mpg out of it and it would still go pretty hard the
highway gears were not an impediment> That 2.73 rear axle is actually the
stock rear end I salvaged out of a 1981 trans am that had 4 wheel disc
brakes, 4 speed, and a 305. If you are running a big ass cam in your 454
with low vacuum the best fix for low vacuum is manual brakes. I setup the
firebird with 4 wheel manual disc it would stop on a dime.
What are you doing with the the 350 motor and trans?
depends if it is in or out of the car and if there is a trans attached… i
would get a manual.
i just bought a 350 and 350 trans…i removed the 3.8 buick motor that my
78 monte had cuz it was a cracked block…i still have the old trans in
there but i dont know if the drive shaft will be compatable with the 350
trans…any one know if there might be a diffance just so i know if i need
to get a new drive shaft or would it fit right in….thanks
Nice, I love the 2nd gen caminos. Yeah I took the drive shaft out after i
removed the cross member. I wish I would have filmed the entire process…
oh well. good luck with your project. I’ll be filming the 454/400
installation in th efollowing weeks.. stay tuned
@ mschiffel I agree but can any1 tełl me how to change the rear main seal
out a 350 sbc and is it hard
@stephen65la It wouldn’t be hard at all.. chevy used the same 350 blocks
from like 57 till pretty recently.. a 350 would drop right in
just curious but why did you have to remove the spark plugs, wires,
distributor and carb. I always leave that stuff on.
@CHEVYCAMARO4GEN I’m actually getting ready to install a 454/th400 combo in
the next week or two. I’ll try to film the process in the detail and post a
video. Cheers!
weld ‘er up!!!!
I say roll the car back if you can.. and your work area is flat… it’s
easier and more stable then rolling the hoist. sometimes the hoist wants to
tip with the engine all the way up
