A quick and easy video tutorial on how to remove and replace the rear hatch lift support struts on a 2000 – 2006 Chevy Tahoe.
When the gas charged strut, also known as lift supports, shocks or strut arms, begin to wear out you notice the rear tailgate hatch will have trouble keeping itself open. When the lift support struts / shocks fully wear out, they will not be able to keep the tailgate hatch open at all on your Chevrolet Tahoe.
This DIY video tutorial will show you how to change and install the hatch lift support strut / shock on the following Chevy Models:
2000 Chevy Chevrolet Tahoe
2001 Chevy Chevrolet Tahoe
2002 Chevy Chevrolet Tahoe
2003 Chevy Chevrolet Tahoe
2004 Chevy Chevrolet Tahoe
2005 Chevy Chevrolet Tahoe
2006 Chevy Chevrolet Tahoe
This is my weekend project. Thanks!
I have a question, just letting you know
2001 Tahoe worked Great!
What do you do if the clip comes completely off or breaks?
Thanks for the help!
I am glad to see this video. Very simple and quick. Thanks again.
Thank you for the up close shots. I couldn't see what was being done on other videos with this tutorial
Dude I've been dreading doing this because I thought it would be so much more involved and I would run into every problem imaginable. I'm about to go knock this out! That's crazy simple. Thanks man.
You helped out another person today! Didn't have a broom handle handy so I wedged a 2×6 underneath in my case.
awsesome foe the help
Thank you sir I appreciate it very much
…i'm a 69 year old female that hates to take my Tahoe in to the dealership… received the support shocks from Amazon today and thx to your video had them installed in 15 minutes… and it only took that long because i had to keep repositioning the rake to support the hatch at the highest point… thx…!!!
Does anyone have a used strut… ill buy it in any condition.. i just need the end.
Do the new struts have clips? Just wondering whether you have to replace the clip you removed once you put the new struts on or is it good to go? Thanks for the help.
same setup as escalades. Thanks
Hi, I need to replace them but ened up with 2 different part #. Driver side was a Stabilus 15766376-RH, and passenger side was a Stabilus 15766375-LH.…
Fully extended they have the same length but once compressed, the driver side strut is half-inch shorter.
Perfect! Both my rear hatch and rear window struts on my '04 Tahoe are well overdue for a swap.
Awesome! I plan to replace these tomorrow on my 2001 Tahoe
where did you get the replacements?
