How To Repair Car Dents with a Stud Gun

There are lots of ways to smooth out a dent. But in the case of our Chevy Caprice, we will be using a stud gun and a slide hammer to undo the damage.

Serious question. I have been looking for a shop that works like this. Everyone I find just replaces panels.

What type of shop pulls dents? What am I looking for in my shop search??

I have a 2011 jeep grand cherokee with a front fender dent on a body line. All shops quote to replace the fender. I'd like to have it pulled.

2400$ for a dent feels extreme!

Grind them off, make a bunch of heat, apply filler. Skip the middle man and start with filler. If it’s less than a 1/4”, you’re good to go!!

What’s stupid is the gun manufacturers designed the pins to be one time use. Should have made the pins so they could be used a couple time before needing a new one.

We have used stud pin guns like that for installing high temperature refractory in oil process furnaces. The difference is the pins in refractory are monel or other high temperature alloy.

Half a second is enough time for pin to set…easy removal with slight twist when done right, simple!

Don't clip them off just twist at the base and save on grinding and risk putting unnecessary heat into the panel

Holding that trigger a little too long, just a second is plenty

You're using the tool wrong, pull the trigger for a millisecond, the pins then break off clean after pulling, some might come off as you pull, just fit another. Heating the panel is bad for it not only do you burn off coatings inside but you heat treat the panel when welding and grinding, it's also a massive waste if time doing it like you did.
