So what is the purpose of taking off the trim and screws on the left and
right side? Why not just the center part around the radio? I have an 06
Malibu SS and want to replace the stereo because the CD player doesn’t work
and I just want to update the look. Also did you have any electrical
problems or is there an anti-theft alarm?

Very informative video. I have a 2006 Malibu LS, I’ve heard around the
internet that replacing the factory radio will prevent you from passing a
smog check. Is this true?

Did any of the car’s anti-theft security activate when replacing the stereo?

The reviews on Crutchfield for the Metra adapter seem to be pretty mixed.
The biggest complaint is that it feels very cheap and breaks down alot.
Have you had any problems since you installed it?

I’ve had my Malibu for about 4 years now and I’ve always wanted to get rid
of that horrible factory stereo. Always been weary about replacing it due
to some of the things I’ve heard.

Thanks.
