Gm’s 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, commonly found in the Chevy Sonic, Cruze and Buick Encore, has a well-known issue resulting in a lean code, P0171, and often times oil consumption and/or an engine whistle noise. This issue is often only partially repaired resulting in repeat failures. This video breaks down the process for diagnosis and repair. Enjoy!

We have the same issue with the vauxhalls here in the uk, even on non turbos.
Amazing a Buick and Chevy with a K as the first character in the vin number, a pcv valve that is a valve cover , and a non return valve that is a an intake manifold. American cars that do not identify as American cars and parts that do not identify as the parts they should be. Automotive wokeness. The diagnosis repair and was excellent . These cars are pieces of S#!T
watch out mike the new guy migth take over lol
What a daft design
Great video. Where's Mike Becker today?
Who is this turd.. where’s mike
You test it with a smoke machine. Blow smoke into the intake… smoke will come out of that hole in the diaphragm indicating you need repair kit for the pcv or a whole valve cover
A very very common problem I've done hundreds of them, those motors are a POS on a good day so it's no surprise they have so many problems, just your usual "quality" GM (General Mess" product.
Maybe more about the valve. As M Thompson asked, "where did it go ??" Should we be looking for scrap metal somewhere ? Thanks.
I knew what it was going to be only because I've done them. It's nice to watch someone else work :). Your explanation was simple enough to be given to a customer and detailed so that it didn't go over anyone's head. Nice video, thanks.
Thank you for a very informative video on this common engine.
