Christ my blazer is a 1994 with over 300,000 miles on it and is stored outdoors its whole life and i live in Mass and they use salt on the roads and my rockers arnt even a quarter as rotten. what did he do wash his car with salt water???
Thomas, if you do the “patches” the right way they will last longer. As I said when I did mine I treated the underside rust with por15 let it dry and then grind down some spots with the small grinder disk just for spots to weld too. Then when I was done getting the panel in place and everything looked good. I undercoated the entire bottoms of the inner and outer then had the truck linex’d to make it last. Been 4 years no bubbles and still solid. Solid enough to pass inspection.
I think I’ve seen this truck I too am between Rochester and Syracuse it looks great driving by it can’t tell the difference wish I knew where you were I need a little patch work done on my 01 silverado wheel wells great vid I’m redoing my rockers but ill put more into them then just a cover I appreciate the advice
these vids are great man you have a great attitude towards your work. its been a pleasure hangin out in your shop:). you should get these vids in high def and record every job you do, no joke. multiple cameras in the shop and film the entire process for every job. Fuck yea dude! you have the makings or a real autobody show here, no ads no bullshit either a product works or it doesnt. this is what speed tv or hotrod tv should be… (with brand new tools/equipment/shop) real work, real results.
Harbor Freight has an electric version of a Wizzer cut off tool that works great! It uses less electricity and saves wear and tear on your compressor. Harbor Fraight calls it a
“120 Volt 3″ High Speed Cut-Off Tool” and the item number is 68523. It sells for $34.95 and is on sale now for $24.99. It is heavier than an air cut off tool but you can get used to it.
Another great video…just wondering if you ever get up behind those bare metal layovers or even fabricated or purchased rockers and spray at least some primer or something on the backside to help curb new rust…I know you’re only getting paid to do what ya gotta do though.
yeah, but he sort of screwed him over too, he said $600 and my brother thought that was an awesome deal and asked him if that was total(parts+ labour) and he said yes then he said he wanted a $400 down payment(for parts) then later on wanted $600 for his labour. i did floors on my jetta and it was a pain blowing through the metal(plus i used a 3/16″ sheet)
wheres rocker repair 2?
EXPANDO FOAM THE WHOLE DAMN THING THEN BONDO OVER IT! 😉

It`s a 2000 `n sunthin` truck with over 100,000 miles on it. They`re made for winter `n mud `n shit.

not a `69 Camaro.
I would say to use zinc weld thru primer…its raw steel in there..and undercoat the crap on the inside
Thats kool keltingr. Hes not paid to use real rockers. The owner didnt wanna pay for it. So stfu.
must be a New York thing to do the job half-ass, here out west we’d fix it right with an actual rocker not 24ga sheet metal

Can you please tell me where I can buy the rockers in this video?
Where are you in New York?
What? A rusted Chevy? 🙂
Great how-to video Pisser!!! Thx for the video!
Just make sure you buy the correct cut-off wheels for it. You want the thinnest ones sold. Then they cut much better.
