Great video! Thanks to your video I was able to fix the horn on my Impala!

ADKmountains says:

This guy is an Idiot. The horn button must be several inches from the hands
at all times & that means on the steering wheel. That location is not legal
!!

Jim Hester says:

Excellent video! Well photographed and concise, clear instructions. I
haven’t looked at all of your offerings yet, but I’m also trying to find
out where the horn is actually located on my 99 s10. I got a small amount
of front end damage, so I’m wondering about the actual connection on the
horn. Great Job!!

Jim Thomas says:

If you have a better idea/solution please post it here in the comments
section. Thank you for your consideration.

Sherry Ser says:

Great video, but will it pass state inspection if you have a ‘horn button’
as opposed to working steering wheel horn?

Jim Thomas says:

Yes, you are right. That was my first choice too, but every breach was
tighter than a drum, so rather than risk gouging a wire (be my luck it
would be the ignition wire), I went with the door option. Anyhow, thanks
for the follow up comment. I appriciate your input !

Jim Thomas says:

It sounds like the horn wire and the left turn signal wire are pinched
together so tightly that the insulation of both wires has been compromised
and thus they have become one and the same circuit. Since both of those
wires are in close proximity under the fuse panel, I think I would start my
search there. Tracing down such short circuits can be difficult/time
consuming/expensive. Best wishes !

Jim Thomas says:

Yes, it will pass inspection. But you should tell to the inspection guy
where the new horn button is located so he doesn’t try to use the old non
working horn.

Michael Johnson says:

where does other wire go?

cliff thrift says:

THANKS FOR THE GREAT VID SAVED ME LOTS OF MONEY!!!!

Jim Thomas says:

Gorge, Thanks for the comment. Glad it worked out for you !

cyril thornton says:

turned out it was only the fuse thanks for pointing that part out. another
way to check is to take the w/w pump’s fuse and test it against the horn.
ie trade them out. easy fix a little safer then a paper clip. Thank you
again!

I need to find the horn fuse in a 2006 silverado … please help

Jim Thomas says:

Thanks ! You might try to Google S-10 forums and find a thread on horn
stuff. Good Luck !

Jim Thomas says:

In this case, one wire goes to the horn by way of the horn fuse and the
other wire connects to the positive side of the battery. A pre existing
feed wire off the positive side of the battery allowed me to connect the
(+) wire to a positive terminal located under the fuse box shroud… see
4:25 of video. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more info.

Jim Thomas says:

Thom, Glad it worked out for you. Thanks for the feedback. Best wishes !

Yayo Sierra says:

Greatt done it all in my chevy

Nikolai Mayhall says:

bad idea to do through dooor

A REDTAIL says:

My Chevy 99 blazer horn sounds weak when I honk it the left turn signal
flashes,This is crazy I will have my mechanic check it out,Hopefully its
just the fuse or the relay as you have mentioned.

Thom Page says:

Thank you Jim. I pulled out the air bag and found a broken horn pigtail (on
my 2000 S10 it is known as the horn contact). Replacement cost me $40.00
for a piece of plastic. Once I replace it my horn work, only when the
ignition was off. When I started my S10 the horn stop working. I got so
involve I pulled the steering wheel and was heading for trouble. Instead of
wasting more money into this problem I followed your instructions and now
have a working horn. Thank You.

Jim Thomas says:

That’s great ! Glad you got it working.

Nikolai Mayhall says:

the best way would be to run it through your firewall.

Jim Thomas says:

I’m not a mechanic but my Chevy has a fuse panel under the hood as shown in
this video. If your horn fuse is not there you might want to call your
dealer and ask their service folks where it is located.or stop by an auto
parts store and ask one of the guys if the can help you find it. Best
wishes… and good luck !

Arvind Mallya says:

Where can I get the horn button? Thank you for the video on how to test
the horn via the fuse.

CoryHSwissMeats says:

Placing horn button on dash is not illegal. Growing up on a farm you will
find very few old trucks had them anywhere but the dash, and dimmer switch
was on the floor also. Nice job on new horn, all i would do different is to
run inline fuse on new hot wire instead of using old fuse . Reason is i
dont want open wire under dash to remain hot. Again , nice job.
