Chevy Equinox/GMC Terrain Oil Catch Can Install

Chevy Equinox/GMC Terrain Oil Catch Can Install

Installing an oil catch can can help prevent the notorious blown rear main seal. Moisture collects in the pcv line. The catch can will remove vapors from the line.

Fritz says:

Excellent modification, I shall try and install this catch can on my 2012 Captiva 2.4. Greetings from Germany.

gearhead 400 says:

the second hose you put on is a one ply really flimsy hose. Looks like the Ebay ones.

Grant K says:

Does anyone know if this is helpful for a vehicle driven predominantly in warm weather? Thanks in advance!

J White says:

Number one you should tell people why would you put that on the reason behind the catch can number two you should be telling people how much that catch can cost number 3 did it help with the problem.

White Boy says:

Karen Palermo says:

Why put this catch can on it for?.

Joe Winsor says:

I recently installed one on my 2012 Equinox. the can filled after about 2 weeks. I did NOT use the steel wool filter and I don't see what the purpose of the steel wool filter?

GARY DEERY says:

Iv just got one too for my rx8 and got metal braid lines coz I had little race and went round a bend fast and some oil went up into my air intake and had lots of smoke out the exhaust lol Did you use the round rubber ring seals on each end of the lines

Rob Luke says:

Now that you have used the oil catch can for a few winter months in Ontario how did it perform? Any issues with freeze up in the can or the air box?

Joe Winsor says:

Should the can be mounted lower? So that the tube coming from the valve cover slopes down? My understanding is that moisture in the OE U-shaped tube would freeze because it sits in the low spot. Frozen is when the rear seal blows. Thoughts?

Joseph Castillo says:

I did same setup but found the inlet on the side of the air box didn't have enough vacuum. I ran my hose into the hole I drilled in the top. Also found a stainless steel scrubber in the can was much more effective at condensing the liquid and vapors than the built in baffle.

David Vazquez says:

One more thing guys when you do this make sure to remove the intake and check the PCV valve hole make sure is open and clean !!

Mark Jayson Maranoc says:
