Awesome video, thanks for sharing. I’m going downstairs right now to check.
Last time on my rear windows, my “repair” guy removed the motor and tweaked
stuff inside, now is dead again. Now is my passengers and the other rear
window… I hope is this!

cbobcbob100 says:

joel brown says:

ofc474 says:

rockauto.com, all you’ll ever need. Using them for years.

apatheticempathy says:

wonder if its worth it for a junk yard switch ?

starlite2991 says:

Yea window switch, That’s what i thought before he said “Window Switch’

2rip00 says:

MOVE TO Los Angeles.. i’ll invest in you.. WILL BE RICH ERIC!!!!

srbeckable says:

great video, as always, love that audio you use in your transistions. is
that a drink holder that pulls out of the console? either way, it looked
like beverages may have been the root cause. i had a similar problem with
my dakota, changed the switch ($40), worked fine for weeks, it started
screwing up again. turned out to be damaged wires between the door and the
jamb.

Tim Hammond says:

Great vid as always Eric thank you, just want to give you the site I get
almost all my parts from it’s rockauto.com, great site you can find almost
anything for almost any vehicle.

jerome sampson says:

awesome, i have been working on the same car. the left side windows work,
but both on the right side dont. any ideas? the put the right window down a
few inches than it would only go up about an inch. thanks for any info,
great video.

jimmy weider says:

I say hit it with a base ball bat and see if that works 😉 LOL just kidding.

Dave Racine says:

These GM’s are getting SO hard to repair it’s rediculous !! Just changing
the factory radio you gotta pull the whole dash now O.o Now you gotta drill
rivets to change a window regulator !? I mean WHAT THE HELL, GM !!! =)

Zack Nancekivell says:

if its standard its because the reverse gears are straight cut.

jimmy weider says:

Yeah my auto down pisses me off.

Desterado says:

I love how the new switch was clearly an updated version, it had words on
the lockout button. Either that or they were very worn off on the old one.

Alex Rojo says:

@drewrob26 no you don’t. Only my drivers side door works. But very slowly

nas979 says:

I love your videos man and I love this probe .. I am definitely getting one
of those. I was wondering if you could make a video of your probes and
electronic tools like the one you made of your tool box.??!!!!! Thanks

Tallerico500 says:

I prefer Rusty’s razor. LOL

Bayer-Z28 says:

That power probe sounds really annoying.. I’d rather use my meter. Good
video though.. I love electrical diagnostics!

hobieslug45 says:

some times you luck out with a car . my 93 civic never had a cel and the
only parts I replaced was a radiator and cv boots (not the joints) with
over 300k. but not all civics are created equal. and that goes for all cars
. I can’t make this claim with my other two civics my accord or oddy.

Eli W says:

My ’00 Cavalier has close to 180,000 miles on it, and other than small
things here and there it is just starting to show it’s age, and that’s only
because a tranny cooler line blew which caused a sudden loss of
transmission fluid. Even having going through that, the transmission still
shifts fairly decently. The only car I’ve had that was more reliable was my
’96 Subaru Impreza, which had 304,000 miles on it when it finally gave up.

CDNbakin says:

Eric, my girlfriend’s 2002 Cavalier won’t shift into overdrive. The
tachometer will drop RPMs normally as if it’s going into OD, but listening
to the engine it doesn’t sound like it is. Are there any common problems
that you know about with this problem in this car? Thanks

KrazyAnub1s says:

Assuming that you are holding the button on the up position and not hitting
it, and its not working, it could be a bad switch or the motor giving out,
also it could be a broken wire. I would start at the beginning: check the
switch, check the the voltage at the connector (like Eric did in the video)
n then take it from there. There’s really no way of telling you whats wrong
with it as there’s more than one reason why your window is doing what its
doing

starlite2991 says:

Eric Current not amps just sayin

MrBishop1310 says:

good vids, their just way too long.

blankpanic says:

if there slow its probably not the switch its either the motors are wearing
out or the tracks for the window are all gummed up with dirt and the motor
has no grease left i would advise using some silicone spray lube and some
grease for the motor

MK4TWISTEDDUB says:

awesome video this is a common in any older car that has power windows..
and those power probes are awesome they are like a volt meter on steroids!!
i got one it rocks

vettepicking says:

I own a Power window repair company. next time punch out the center of the
rivet and drill the head off. also i use factory motors made by Valeo and i
leave the regulator installed and just change the motor. Those Gm switches
always wear out , very cheaply made and have a short life span.

matrixownz says:

so people can spill there drinks on it and have to buy a new one its all
about $

Aaron Kemp says:

could i buy your old switch from you i just need the button tops?

SubieSean says:

I need to due this in my car. 2 of the windows are slow as hell.

myadler says:

From my experiance these switches are pretty robust, you could clean them a
hundred times and they would be like new every time. Besides, I’m not so
much interested in what’s best for a client, these videos are supposed to
be directed at the DIYer and the enthusiast. I just want to see inside the
switch 🙂

Dillithium says:

There’s a video tour of Eric’s new shop around on his channel, or on his
backup channel, ETCG1. Look for it, you’ll find it.
