Cadillac SRX Spark Plugs and Coils DIY V6 3.0 & 3.6 (Second Generation)

My girlfriends 2011 Cadillac SRX was in need of a tune up and I discovered there were no DIY guides online (video or written) to help me with this process. So as far as I’m aware this is the first youtube video for changing spark plugs and coils on a second generation Cadillac SRX. This 3.0 V6 (called LF1) is closely related to the GM 3.6 liter LFX engine; both engines are found in several GM vehicles. When I had the intake manifold off I noticed that the intake ports are very dirty (carbon deposits) Also when doing this I was amazed at how well built of an engine this isl at 107,000 miles it shows no signs of leaking anywhere and it still drives like a Cadillac.

Tuning up girlfriends car. Check out my wife's channel. lol

Mr.HoustonMusicMix says:

Do you unplug battery to change spark plugs and coils

Charlie's Corner says:

Its a good idea to treat the coils like plug wires and pull them one at a time, this is recommended procedure from OEM and if you put the wrong coil on the wrong cylinder you could cause a misfire.

My search for a good DIY video on a tune up continues

Arjun Patel says:

can you tell me cylinder order in this car which one is which

Gregory Josefsberg says:

Just bought a 2010 3.0 with 136,000 miles on it and decided to complete this job despite the engine running relatively smooth. So far, 4 coils and plugs have been replaced and the rest will be done tomorrow. Interestingly, it appears that the coils and plugs are the originals. They are all in fairly bad shape. After replacing cylinders 1, 3, and 5 the engine was tested. It fired up and ran smoother than butter. It sounded and felt like a brand new engine. Seriously. Can wait to complete the job tomorrow morning and take her for a spin. Thanks for the video.

I came here to see how to take the intake manifold off my srx and coincidentally you happen to have an F30 also, think I have no choice but to subscribe. Thanks for the video!

Travis Toledo says:

Lacks detail.

roger lucas says:

ps. She got an estimate from a private mechanic for a "timing cover gasket set", i believe was called. Included front engine seals and some kind of 'relearning by computer' thing. (Dont have quote in front of me) Anyway, is it possible just to do seals to fix oil leak and be done with it??

roger lucas says:

Thanks for putting out something meaty on '10 to '16 SRX's! Friend just asked if I could replace her engine seals on her 2010. Whats up w lack of videos on these SRX's?? Are they super hard to do timing gasket work? Maybe you could do one?

William Young says:

Magnetic 5/8 spark plugs and tool is nice to have lol

SuperHandyman12 says:

Torque specs for the upper intake is 17 lb ft. Tighten the bolts in a circular pattern starting from the center moving out. Good video by the way.

homan n says:

Good video. Thanks. How often do we have to change the spark plugs and coils? I have a 2013 SRX with 56k miles on it. I don't feel anything wrong, no rattling etc., but was wondering if changing the spark plugs will help with fuel economy a bit. I'm averaging 17 mpg with %50 highway and it seems a bit high, even though SRX 3.6 liter is known for poor gas mileage.

DAVID DJJD OLAVARR says:

What was the GAP on those spark plus? What was the torque on those five or six bolts on that manafort? Never mind, you answer this one, about the manafort torque specs. Grabbed a Torque Wrench and torqued those bolts, to find out the specs.

Alv Ruben says:

Your video should be a little bit more specific, like when you remove the spark plug etc. other than that good video

Marcus Houser says:

Thank you for the video. When changing the back 3 plugs, did you replace the intake manifold gaskets?

Angie Wells says:

Thanks for the video been trying to figure it out now can you tell me how to fix the radio screen it's stuck in the up position lol

Harambe Sr. says:

Thanks bud!

Paris Brady says:

Any tips? I can't undo the bolt to get to the spark plug 🙁

noe pena says:

Thank you. Very helpful.

Sarcastic36 says:
