Hah, I have saved 10's of thousands of dollars doing my own work and I have a garage full of free tools because of it. I consider them free when I save an average of 3-500 dollars per job.
Not one shop where I live I’d trust my lawn mower to iv used a couple of them car ended up worse every time
I do all my own work, successfully, and all my maintenance and upkeep. And I’ve never had any experience as a mechanic.

A shot of oil in that cylinder the compression test would tell you a lot about the salvagability of that cylinder. Also most of the compression loss was due to the leak
