no just took the belt out other than that i did take the wheel off to get
to a couple of the bottom bolts.Of course you have to take the battery and
coolant reservoir out but didn’t have to take the crankshaft pulley off
actually other than being in a tight spot it really wasn’t that horrible.

have a ? did the serp.belt rub againist the lower a/c bolt?thats the
problem we’re having ….installed new waterpump… thanks

JMMoosey says:

@JMMoosey forgot to mention that there is a little door inside the wheel
well to access the engine compartment.

I don’t see the purpose of this video if it doesn’t show step by step
procedure. That’s what i was looking for.

CakeDaddy1 says:

Great video!!! Can you tell what would cause my Smog Pump Pulley to come
apart at the gears, I’ve replaced the original, but even the replacement
part broke apart?

rodeepmpful says:

im replacing my pump on a 92 deville, when removing the old one , all the
bolts seemed to be pretty loose(snug at best) . do you know what they need
to be torked to when i put the new one on? and what kind of sealant did you
use? thanks

freeclimber28 says:

sorry about the noise wintertime and heater is loud.Hope this is helpfull

lawnside82 says:

its easer to get to the ones in the back when u take the 2 bolts out the
cruse control servo.. and lay it to the side. i was able to get at 15mm
wrench in there.. t

Robert Keeton says:

One tip that I learned from experience and I was told from GM certified
mechanics, DO NOT use RTV sealant!!! If you feel the need to use any gasket
adhesion aid, use high tack spray only. The gasket is meant to be put on
dry. I am an ASE certified engine builder and I can tell you that when I
had to do this replacement on the side of the road with nothing but a
screwdriver and some sockets that if you don’t clean the old gasket off
properly, it WILL leak no matter what. Just clean it well.

I’m attempting this job this weekend on my 93 DeVille. There really isn’t
much room to work with. I had difficulty removing the pump. Any tips on
working with such little room? (Also heard you can remove the front tire
for a little more access).

JMMoosey says:

I just replaced the water pump on my 92 Cadillac Sedan DeVille but didn’t
have to remove as many parts. All I had to remove was the battery, the
reservoir and took off the front passenger wheel.

freeclimber28 says:

@trekalltop yes you can get to the bottom bolts easier the best way to
flush the system is to drain the coolant, take out the thermostat .Then
bolt back together and let water run through the system for about a half
hour.with bottom hose disconnected. Then drain the system put new thermostat
in and fill with coolant.

Anthony Roberts says:

The easiest thing is taking the tensioner, the idler pulley, Torx 45, and
go under the wheel well frame…it would take 10 to 15 min max to remove…
dont forget a 10 mm wrench, or quarter inch socket…it’s so simple…
without removing those pulleys, it will take damn near forever…

Bandof Boogers says:

Alan McRae says:

How do you know if the water pump is bad in the first place??? Can it be
bad if it isn’t making noise? Thanks for the video!!!

freeclimber28 says:

thats all I took off was pass wheel, battery and reservoir besides the belt
and there was no door only a frame rail rite in front of the water pump..

LilB4LiFe64 says:

I own a 1990 cadillac deville 4.8 fuel injected. Would the process be the
same?

freeclimber28 says:

I got your message this morning yes to remove the timing cover but if just
doing the water pump it doesn’t need to come make sure you don’t take the
bolts that don’t go through the pump out they are for the timing belt cover
then if you dont replace the timing belt case gasket it will leak.

javi20112fly says:

what can do i to take the bolt from the pully cause they are real tight.
and the pully keep turning.
