Richard Reid says:

what year is that car I am trying to replace one for a friend

Review Guy says:

Just had a friend call me up asking me to change his starter.. and before
we jumped to conclusions i wanted to do some tests before we assume the
starter. Basically when turning the key, (fully charged battery) the
starter seems to try to turn the engine over but then a clank happens and
it seems to release the flywheel and try again.. it wont even turn the
engine all the way over… its almost like the starter is still engaging
but just not strong enough.. He tells me it was a rebuilt starter

randomrazr says:

i was thinking of putting the cinderblocks vertical, and where the body
frame is (the spot where i jacked up the carin a previous video. sound good?

V8Jagnut says:

just like most other cars. good vid

randomrazr says:

hey thanks! ye i have to remove the exhuast to get the starter out i
suppose those are the only 2 connections to the starter? thought ther was
more. well im gonna fool around wiht the connections, and maybe that will
work if not im gonan need to take it out. the exhuast pipe, all i need to
do is remove the 2 bolts ont he exhuast u showed in the video and it should
slide out? the pieces that connect directly int he engine should slide out?

randomrazr says:

sweet, iil make a vid for u to show what ive done before i go under for you.

randomrazr says:

hey i just came back form atempting to check the connections and see where
hte exhuast connects. i learned, even though its an old car, its a tigher
space putting on the lift would make life soo much easier LOL and i wish my
dad got hte 87 park avenue ebcause they shortened and raised the exhuast
pipe higher . LOL so i was thinking of jacking the car up with a tire jack
then put cinder blockes on both sides and hopefully have more room to work
on….is this safe? i can make a video im doing.

cool, thanks.

calmero331 says:

I apologize that I’m bringing this issue back up, but I need help with my
dad’s ’95 Buick Lesabre. I’ve replaced the alternator and battery twice,
but after the engine idles for about 10 mins, the car shuts off. I checked
voltage on the battery while idling, and it’ll drop from 13V to about 7V,
then that’s when it dies. What’s this “fuse link” that everyone’s talking
about on the starter solenoid? Supposedly, if blown, it creates an open
cicuit which prevents the alternator to charge the battery

randomrazr says:

@CODxFUNxMAN apparnetly theres nothing wrong with the starter….just not
enough powe going through. she turns over!

bah53 says:

i think that’ll be ok, just shake the car a little bit once you’ve got it
on blocks to make sure it wont fall when you get under it

bah53 says:

there may be another small terminal on the solinoid with a wire going to it
on your starter, if there is just take it off and remember where it goes.
The exhaust pipe should have 2 places for it to connect. One close to the
front manifold (the part that connects to the engine), and one end that
connects either to the other manifold (rear) or to the rest of the exhaust.
Either way there should only be 2 bolts on each connection

bah53 says:

as long as you have got something strong other than just the tire jack
holding up the car, you should be ok. just make sure you lay the blocks in
a way that they wont break and put them under a solid part of the car (if
you can find one thats not completely rusted out lol). A good idea for
taking out exhaust bolts is to spray some penetrating oil (wd-40) on them
and let them soak for a while, they are gonna be hard to get off without
breaking

hdBattousai says:

Sweet i needed a quick guide to swap my 93 Buick park avenue starter and
this worked perfect (‘cept my starter was underneath but everything else
was the same) now the only thing i cant figure out is the solenoid on the
new started has 2 of the small prongs instead of 1 (im assuming its a
ground) and the standard large one lol i wish i knew more about cars like i
do computers haha

jmurray01 says:

could u do a start of your buick lesabre limited.
