Joe A says:

On one end of spacer I ground a beveled on it for easier replacement

gary boothe says:

this video failed to show how to release the tension off of the tension pulley in order to get belt around it,I pried the tension pulley down with a long p c, of metal and it broke the spring which makes me have to go purchase a whole part which costs $85,no help,if you had shown the easiest way to take the tension off,it would have been nice, the video just all the sudden shows the belt magical appearing on the vehicle,no prying the tensioner pulley, nothing…ri
diculous…

upiu695 says:

As far as I’m concerned it was a home run. I knew there had to be a way to get the belt off and back on without taking off brackets. Your video showed exactly how to do that. If I had no clue how to thread the belt and couldn’t at least look at what I’m taking off and replace it the same way, then maybe I need to have a good professional mechanic. 🙂

MostHated 15 says:

that dident help

Autotechviewpoint says:

You are right, not the best video for actually showing step by step. At 2:27 it shows how to loosen tensioner with wrench. At 4:30 it does show the belt when it is on the engine.
Yep, not every video a home run. Sorry.

Thomas Cox says:

you’re kidding right? The video needed to show how to do the replacement. How to remove, thread it through the wheels and tension the belt.

You never show how to do this at all.

A nice hand drawn side-view diagram of how the belt goes around/between the wheels would be helpful.

We all do dumb things – but not in instructional videos that are going to be viewed by people who need the details.

How about retitling it “dumb things i have done” and posting a video of how to change the belt?

Autotechviewpoint says:

Well, just thought it was a little funny, so I posted it. Should a mechanic ever confess he does dumb things. I guess the question is does this video show you how to do the job? I think it does….?

Thomas Cox says:

OK…. So, really dumb question. When you realized that the video shows you putting it back together without the belt on - why did you post the video with the error rather than showing what you did when you actually put the belt in?

Andrew Graves says:

it was the same.and i got it done and it was a bitch ..never again..thanks for the video..

Autotechviewpoint says:

I would just compare the video with your engine and see it if looks the same, if everything looks the same…should be done the same.

Andrew Graves says:

is the 96 the same.as in replacing the belt? done the same way???

DarkRonin00 says:

i actually have not attempted yet lol..questioning not having a jack..

DarkRonin00 says:

ok, i am gonna attempt it with out the jack…thank u very much…

Autotechviewpoint says:

you should be fine without it.

DarkRonin00 says:

do i need to jack it up or should i be fine..or should i use a jack to to stabilize if i can…basically do i need a jack?

DarkRonin00 says:

did u jack it up at all? or just unscrew and shabam..good to go?

crazytaylor49 says:

you saved my life and dont want to give the shop a dollar thanks for the info

Autotechviewpoint says:

If you are talking about me and installing the spacer, yes I spaced out while making the video and started to put it all back together without putting the belt on. Made a little more work for myself!

Frankieshadowman says:

This is what I have to do with my 99 Buick lesabre .That spacer is in the way..What I don’t get is why did he install the 2″spacer & nut/bolt Before installing the serpintine belt?? Also I hear other People jacking up the car & engine thus denting there oil pan’s from a wooded block etc..Great video none the less, since the other video’s only show the model’s with out a motor mount interferrence part(s) in the way of easy removal.

pubicsmellerburrito says:

You could just cut the belt off. Looks like im gonna have to put a new belt on my friends grandmas car. I still don’t get why he needs the reverse torx bit. Im sure I will in a few days when I get a better look

Brandon Kostus says:

Thank god for your video! Spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to get that belt off without taking out the motor mount. Had to run and get an E10 reverse torx socket, but it only took about 20 minutes after that.
