I am not a mechanic and I replaced this in about 30 minutes for $30. There is a recall on this but only until 100k miles I believe. Call your dealer and check and see if they will fix this for free (provide them your VIN) before forking out money for parts.
Will this cause your car not to reverse??
Had this same problem and GM charged me over $1500.00 to fix it a few years ago. Light came back on and says the same thing. Can’t be a timing issue again.. any help.?
This worked great for me. Thank you so much!
Great video. It took me 15 minutes thanks very much for the info.
You have metal bits in there, you have bigger problems than just that device!
Will this cause your car to lose power if it’s bad
That is a timing chain issue bud with that metal
looks like the oil was changed in this car every 50,000 miles in this car.jesus fucking christ, mine is amber colored and ive got issues.change ANY OIL after 5-6000 km or 3000 MILES
How many miles you have on this
i just changed the exhaust one nearest the cabin for around $45 (dorman #917-216).
check engine light went out after disconnecting negative battery post for ten minutes!
if light comes back on in near future i will post. 2013 buick verano.
i hope to get o'reilly refund on the other solenoid (or credit)
for another car problem. i'm not good with cars
so i am sure you can also replace these easily whoever you may be. 10mm socket.
thanks everyone! good luck to you all.
Maybe you or someone can help. I have a 2011 Buick Regal CXL 2.4l. The car was running rough so gave the car a tune up, the camshaft solenoids, a new timing chain set, catalytic converter, flex pipe, valve cover and gasket, water pump, cleaned the throttle body. And still hear a rattling sound a little also the car likes to shutter when at idle or at a stop it does it on and off. Extremely frustrated haven’t even had the car a full year and put so much money into it any info would help!
On these engines, the exhaust manifold starts to crack. I would recommend removing the heat shield in cold engine and looking at the exhaust manifold carefully. Cracks will throw the code, the solenoid is a symptom but not the cause. The ECM did exactly what it was intended to. I replaced mine and the same symptoms reappeared. Replacing the solenoid on buys time so now the computer has to count over again before it sets the code, causing the same issue until you fix the cause.
Thanks for the info! Just saved me some money
