A “10mm screw” its not a 10mm just beacuse you use a 10mm pipe to loosen
it. Its actually most of the time a 6mm screw.

Marcin Baczkowski says:

Engine in,video almost isbidentical.

Marcin Baczkowski says:

Can,this,be used in 525i 2004? Same process??

BavarianAuto says:

This DIY video was done on an E46 3-series.

morten bang says:

Hello i have an BMW 525i year 2001 engine M54 there is an big oil use 3.5L
in 2400km and engine fail p0430-p0420 any ideas what could be the problem

Ricardo Venegas says:

Is this pretty much the same process on the e46?

BavarianAuto says:

Yes, but the injectors must be removed and then installed in a test rig,
that checks the pattern and the flow.

pektomizer says:

This video help a lot! Thank u!

zeeaars says:

Explaning and showing is so correct and relaxed

jamesukm says:

Thanks for the reply, i have had the car hooked up to a smoke machine and
nothing is leaking. I have had to take it to a garage now as it failed its
emissions test but they cant find any problems and the mechanic had never
seen Positive and negative fuel trims at the same time. Is there a way you
can check injector patterns?

BavarianAuto says:

We would suggest that you may still have a vacuum leak someplace. If there
is nothing obvious, to the eye, a smoke-test may be in order. This uses a
machine that injects smoke into the intake system and the smoke leaks out
of any areas where a vacuum leak may be present. Alternately, fuel injector
spray patterns may be poor.

Just Used your videos to replace my CCV and breather pipes as mine were 13
years old and leaking. Thanks alot, would never have been able to do it
without these, well done. I am however still getting the P0171 and P0174
codes. the short fuel trims however are baffling me Bank 1 is -25% and bank
2 is + 18%, have you ever seen this before? any suggestions would be
appreciated not sure where to go now

BavarianAuto says:

Your 04 X3 2.5 will indeed have the M54 engine. The system will be just as
shown.

pektomizer says:

Hi i have a 04 x3 2.5 and i was wondering is this procedure will apply to
my suv? I dunno what kind of engine i have since im new to bmw world. Any
tips and advices will be appreciated. Thanks!

miguel carpio says:

do i have to disconnect the battery for ccv replacement?

Doctorj63 says:

I remember the good old days when this was a 5 minute job involving pulling
one hose off, and replacing the valve. I believe it cost all of about a
dollar.

Marty Jo says:

Sorry I did not mention it is a 1999 328 I 4door sedan.

azthundercloud says:

Please resend your current tech assistance question to info@bavauto.com

Oscar Villalobos says:

Onlineid1 says:

can a bad ccvv cause a vacum leak

Mark Fulcher says:

Very clear, informative video. Thanks for uploading!

Operator21 says:

Thanks a million finally got around to this on Friday before the hurricane
and this video saved me a lot of money thanks Otto!!! Only one difference I
guess there is some kind of vaccum hose thats connected to one side of the
oil separator I replaced it with a blue silicone hose. Maybe because mine
is the M52TU motor but any way thanks again.

BavarianAuto says:

Glad we could be of assistance! While this is a somewhat tedious job, you
save hundreds of dollars by following our video and doing it yourself.

KingFloish says:

Hello, really nice video’s you make 🙂 But I have a question where can I
buy the ratch you use in 5:25 in the video? greeting from germany

krispenev says:

my e46 325ci is making a wierd suction noise at low revs when you tap the
throttle….no vaccum leaks….could this be the culprit? some people say
its the icv, but I don’t think so….any thoughts?

goreover says:

Hey Bav. Auto. I have an 04 330ci – I live in MN so it is cold climate. I
just bought my car 3 months ago and im gonna get winter tires and drive it
in the winter. So my question to you how can i tell if my cvv system has
been replaced or not? Im looking at the hose from the valve cover down to
the valve.. That hose has insulation on it.. does original ones have
insulation as well? Also what are the symptoms if cvv is no good? Thanks in
advance

BavarianAuto says:

@Operator21 We’re sorry for the trouble. We have found that our videos are
having trouble playing the audio on some computers. We are researching
this. In the mean-time, please try it on a different computer.

BavarianAuto says:

We’re glad we could help by providing you with not just the parts, but the
knowledge to do it yourself … and keep on saving. Remember, our phone
specialists are always available to help at; 800-535-2002.

Marty Jo says:

I am using this video to conduct this R&R of the CCV. The one question I
have is at what point did you remove the throttle cable assembly?

SD4DInsane says:

I got a p0173 and p0170 on a BMW 3 series 98 says a fuel trim bank 1 and
bank 2 what u think is the problem?

BavarianAuto says:

The flexible hose clamp driver is available at bavauto.com, part number is
53910.

jub3box says:

Amazing Video! I have been researching the reasons why my car is burning
1.5 litres of oil every 800-1000 miles. Everything I’ve found so far points
to the the PCV (some call it CCV). There are no visible tells ie no blue
smoke and no oil leaks yet I’m losing an excessive amount of oil. I have a
330 ci (e46) and was woundering if the installation process is the same as
the M54 as shown. Also from the symptoms I have described, do you think
this is a clogged PCV?

lbarocha311 says:

If your car is burning through oil like crazy, this CCV part might be the
culprit, it clugs up and builds pressure inside the valve cover, which
blows out the gaskets inside and leaks oil into the exhaust….you’ll need
to replace the valve cover gasket as well. It’s quite a job, but I’m no
mechanic, just so so and with the video I was able to do it, just be
prepared with the correct tools….

lbarocha311 says:

I agree, These guys are awesome, I buy all my stuff from them….I just did
my CCV, DISA, Waterpump, Valve cover gasket and all pulleys and tensioners
in one sitting myself and with their videos, I saved no less than 3K to 4K
doing it myself….STOOOOKED right now…

mel garcia says:

i have to do this on my 2004 x3 2.5l , will the steps in this video be the
same on my car ?

BavarianAuto says:

The M54 in the E53 X5 will be just about exactly the same. One difference
is the intake tubing. It’s actually easier on the X5. You also generally
have a bit more room to work.
