I have run into a few with the integrated valve cover fail this way but it

Hello Tina, In most cases this is caused by a failed crank case vent valve.
Some models this valve is external under the intake and on some it is
integrated into the valve cover. Replacement will be needed to correct the
excessive vacuum.

You know i have this noise sometimes it goes and it comes back on my 325i
2001 im not sure what it is it seems to go away when you press on the gas
but when you on a red light you can hear it clear

what’s involved removing and replacing as I need to replace mine.I am

Kinda. It’s been so great since replacing my valve cover. Oil consumption
is down, mpg is up. I’ve only had one stall episode since and I think I can
blame the vanos solenoid as I have thrown random vanos codes and there’s a
bulletin on the solenoid. No vacuum, no squealing. It’s much more reliable.
Thank you again for helping me diagnose what every BMW mechanic in town
said didn’t exist

328xi 2007 manual. Thanks for the post. I’ve been dealing with this problem
for years! Today and yesterday were extremely humid days. I changed out
plugs/coils and it seemed to tame the beast for a bit but since yesterday,
it’s back. Then I found your vid. Would you say this seal replacement is an
easy DIY or advanced?

It can effect power. You could do the PCV as maintenance but most often it
is only replaced if there is a failure.

My 2007 BMW 328i does the same thing! When I remove the oil cap which is
very hard it stops! What will fix it?

hi my name is Devan i have a 2007 328i and i dont hear a whistling but when
i pull the oil cap it makes a big suction noise and it is very hard to pull
the oil cap off right now its throwing 12 different mil codes and all the
cylinders have misfired so im guessing the pcv is bad becuase its leaking
oil around the valve cover what do you think? my vin# is wbavc53587fz74184

days later. the noise came back. loosened the cap and bam same thing as
yours air getting sucked in and noise goes away. what should I replace?

Hello Douglas, It might be worth checking the timing. Also a compression
and cylinder leakage test would be a good idea to see if this is related to
internal engine.

Thanks for your help its nice to be suupscriped yo your channel what i have
found is a crack on one of the tubes or what ever they called that supplies
air into the motor Once again askthecarexpert helped me solve my problem
and saved my cash I hope god will solve your problems as well thank you

It may be that the front or rear main seal has failed and the air is being
sucked in through the seal. Try to listen if the noise comes from the front
or rear of the engine and that seal may need to be replaced.

No fault codes are setting? Check the eccentric shaft sensor to see if you
have any oil in the sensor from a failing sensor. This can cause some
strange problems.

Your welcome Leah πŸ™‚ It is an expensive repair unfortunately. The stalling
can indeed be the solenoids. Also a very common failure. It is a good idea
to replace them when you can and do an oil change at the same time πŸ™‚ Best

Dear CarExperts, My 2004 E46 318i (N42 2.0L) has had the same problem. It
usually happens when I am driving in a tunnel or in a traffic jam on high
polluted roads. I replaced the pcv valve last autumn. It was a little
better in the winter, then it came back recently as the weather gets
hotter. Now it happens everyday for a few times a day. (The engine has a
burning oil problem which I am using a thicker oil as a solution.) Thanks!

Hi car experts, I have a e60 520i m sport on 2005, it has developed a small
misfire, so done the plugs and the coils and the disa valve appears to be
operating correctly. If I rev the car to 4000 rpm and bring down gently the
misfire goes away, however it always comes back when I let the revs return
to norm on they’re own. The read out says misfire in a a couple of
cylinders. Reset the faults and it pics another 2 cylinders to say is
faulty? Only thing possibly the vacuum control unit?

If you have a lot of engine vacuum then you should replace the valve cover.
The noise from the seal is usually a secondary problem due to too much
engine vacuum.

Yes, for the most part. E90, whole new valve cover. That was 3? weeks ago
ish…. its been so much better since. Better MPG, drastically less oil
consumption….. I had ONE stall episode a week after it was replaced, but
I’m fairly certain that was due to the vanos solenoid as it’s thrown codes
for that, and the bulletin that’s out for it. But since then, absolutely no
issue. Just got new tires for it 2 days ago, that I will mount next week.
Much more reliable now

Well, on my E90 it was an all day job. My personal mechanic takes pics
every time he takes a wire off. I trust him since the other shops couldn’t
even diagnose it. Older models, it’s just the PVC to replace. My engine,
BMW got smart and built it in to the cover. More expensive repair. I paid
$400 for the cover

Does this dramatically affect power output? My 2005 530i has 160,000 miles
and am hearing new noises under the hood. I was told I need a new alt belt
and PCV replacement. I was wondering if the PCV replacement was due to it
failing or just for preventative maintenance. Ty
