Well … you should always use a torque wrench in principle, but I just
tightened them by feel. And the radio station was WQUT 101.5 FM, larsonn.
Center Bushing Bolt from Hell ! I tried to get it from down below but it
would only turn by 1/8 inch increments. So I took out the air box and came
at from above. Still had to hit the nut with a propane torch for a few
minutes to loosen that puppy up. I went ahead and replace the stabilizer
bushings at the same time. Went with Polyurethane bushings for them and the
control arm. AMAZING how much stiffer the front end is now. GREAT video &
even better advice about the alignment ! Thanks !

Useful video. Did mine on my Z3 last year. I bought a control arm kit where
the bush was also attached which made it easier. I would guess these are
available in the US as well.
Hi, I’m doing this job right now….. I was wondering if you replaced the
left side too at any time. I had a hell of a job getting to the central
ball joint nut on the left hand side. Had to remove the air filter box and
part of the air intake to make just enough room to get to it with a double
extension. Now I’m waiting for the replacement arms to get here. I too went
for the complete assembly with reïnforced bushings from a company called
Meyle. These should stiffen the front suspension ?!
On the Bavauto video they didn’t use the grease like you did at 6:15
because they said they wanted it to evaporate. That might be why bmw has a
kerosene based lubricant. Just a thought. Anyway thanks for the video. It
is very helpful.

My rear drivers side upper control arm is bent I took it to a service
station and they said it would be $650 dollars in parts and labor to fix it
does that sound fair ?
Yes, we did both sides at the time of the video but only taped the one
side. We had problems with the center nut, too, and had to take out the air
filter box. New ball joints will stiffen the suspension alone, and yes,
reinforced ones should make that a nice driving machine. It was five times
easier and faster to install than remove, so you have good things to look
forward to when your parts arrive.

I had trouble with the center bushing bolt, too, but got it off with a
breaker bar and hammer. Glad the torch method worked, bilkar.
