Not sure what my issue is, but I cannot get the "fans" on the side (black with yellow trim and flip back an forth) to lock into place. When I have them out, the lock slides up and down with no problems. When I get it in and try to slide it down, it won't go. I move the flap back and forth a little to make sure I'm sliding the lock into the right spot (it only goes in one way) but once there, it just doesn't move any further. Thoughts?
Great video! Just replaced mine from an E83. You saved me a lot of money with your video by not going to an authorized mechanic. Cheers!
Thanks for this. The absurd part to me was getting the clip back on under there in the blind spot… keeping it there while you try and get the motor back in with the other hand. It's a three hand job. And need a third eye on a stalk to see in there. Thanks though.. good job explaining..)
I haven't read through all the comments, but when you put the fan motor back in, there are slots on the motor that hold the motor in place. The motor mount has a plastic tab and "fin" that slide into the motor. I don't know if I can get a picture on here but I would show it if I could. I changed the fan motor on a 2002 330xi, it is all but the same directions.
Here's a tip: use a magnetizer on your Torx screw bits and others.
does anyone know what that other unit is in the compartment that looks like a fan? i opened mine up today and mine is missing with the plug just dangling there.
Thanks tons for the tutorial.
One piece of missing voodoo that makes removing/installing that front blower cover easy on USA models!!! Put your wipers in the full up position before you try to remove or install it. Once that's out of the way you can remove the screw and unclip the locks. The top of the cover will now rotate out towards the front for easy removal. Install is as easy as getting the lower section behind the clips and rotating the top back into place until the upper locks click.
Thanks for sharing your posting.Great job!
Good video, thank you for the details as your working.
Hi! My 325i e46 does not blow air at all. Might be the blower motor the problem? Some people say that the rezistor which control the blower might not work (the one under the glove box). What is your opinion on this?
this is easy compared to 5 series e60 they are inside under radio. area
