I usually use quite a bit of fluid to make sure the system is clean. Most
places only put in the 1 liter bottle. I use about 2-4 liters depending on
how the fluid looks.

AskTheCarExperts says:

You can absolutely do it that way. I lift the vehicle for clarity in the
video but I often do not lift the vehicle as well and perform the flush. 🙂

AskTheCarExperts says:

Hello Ken, The fluid is from the same reservoir but as long as you do not
introduce air into the system you do not need to bleed the slave cylinder.
It is something you can add to a bleed routine however, just be sure not to
introduce any air into the slave cylinder as they can be hard to bleed once
air is in the system. 🙂

One last question just to clear out my doubts, is it necessary to release
the handbrake when bleeding brakes?

VoiTuboUser says:

Im also wondering if i could do it without even lifting the car. (I’ve seen
BMW indy shops do it) I would just bleed/flush RR then RL then start up the
car, turn the wheel all the way to the left, shut off, FR, then start up
the car again, turn the wheel all the way to the right, shut off, FL and
call it a day! (Of course, drive around the block and make sure everything
is fine)

Bonjour, mon ami! I bleed mine about 9 months ago. I see that you used a
suction bottle to pull the fluid out. I, however, used the technique of
pushing the fluid out. I bought the whole kit at bavauto. Was not cheap but
I’d rather lose a little than pay a lot for ABS systems. Nice of you to
help pepple out. Not even Bentley’s will dedicate this much videos.
Appreciate it.

AskTheCarExperts says:

Bonjour 🙂 At work I use a pressure bleeder as well. Both are good options
🙂 Should be doing a lot more with my E46 soon! Will be checking timing.

Hey there! Im going to bleed/flush the brakes soon and i was wondering if
it is fine to bleed the brakes only with the front end raised. I only have
2 jacks and im thinking of jacking up the front end, place the 2 jacks at
the jack points and bleeding/flushing the brakes only with the front end
jacked up.

to my x3 as well. how much fluid do I need in total? one part for the
flush, one part for the refill. thanks a lot.
