Cheap and Easy Fix for BMW Diesel N47 Timing Chain Rattle (How To Replace Tensioner F30)

This video shows you how to replace your timing chain tensioner on the BMW N47 engine with the latest revised version. This engine is in an F30, but most N47 vehicles will be the same process. More often than not this is all you need to fix a rattling chain, and it will extend the life of your engine greatly. BMW released an updated tensioner that is longer and has a stiffer piston than the original, and they encourage fitting it to all N47 engines to maximize engine life. The N57 engine is the same process and part number, but you will need to remove the intake pipe to gain access.

The revised part number is 11318490219

any change in sound after installing new one?

Can you pressure down this old timing chain tensioner onto a weighting machine. See how much down force it take to push down the plunger by 2 inch. 20 or 15 or 10lb of force?
Then compare it to the new tensioner. BMW owners change their timing chain tensioner once every 60,000 miles. But never says any testing of old vs the new tensioner. Thanks
