Great vid! Language a bit much!

WOW I did and read all the issues you mentioned. I don't want those problems. We are giving this purchase further discussion. It's a nice looking vehicle but it's right around the mileage everything starts to breakdown. Plus there's no warranty. Thank you for providing some real insight. I like and have done plenty of repairs because I hate to pay the stealership prices when I know I can do it sometimes myself and save money. It's just a shame what they charge. Keep up the good work and repair videos.

Hey great job and it was done in driveway on ramps. How has it been? I'm looking at a 2007 X3 with 71400 miles for my girlfriend. I checked out issues with these trucks and this was one of the issues. They have several more issues in the mechanical but like you I would DIY it. What other repairs have you done. How has your X3 running. Thanks Joe

Moe Maywood says:

you should do a 3D print on that gear Amigo. motor is Bosch, not thy gears .

John Murdock says:

Thank you, great video and I have no problem with your language, cursing is part of the stress relief of doing your own work. You said you had to lower the transfer case, how? I am about to crawl under to do mine. I had no problems until over 150,000 miles.

thank you , good video and you save me thousands of dollars today for my x5 E70

Sir Sweetness says:

update, BMW stealership told my father in law that it was this motor gear. He did not tell me how much for estimate…I am thinking like you. (2,500+) no dash lights though. My mind still says CV…I have not driven or inspected car.

Mike mömō says:

Oh man don't tell me that just bought a metal one from eBay for about 20$…Ima sell this thing anyways never had good luck with german makes plus my 325ci could be listening in and that thing need much more work.

Mike mömō says:

I think I'll put the plastic one as well. if it's gonna last as much as 100k mi I don't think the truck will make to 225k mark but hoping it proves me wrong lol.

Mike mömō says:

Should of used the aluminum gear oh well you know how to get that 18mm bolt now you got the socket and open wrench lol

What happens if you disconnect the servomotor? will the AWD still work, or it will become a RWD? Can you drive the car if the servomotor is not working?

jsoto127 says:

wow nice job !I have that same problem but did you have to eventually change the inside pieces in the transfer case like the chain

draga says:

I've done this few times, and I learned from my own mistake, so I want to share with you. If you look at your video between min 14:37, and min14:47, the white gear part that goes with your new one it has two interior cracks and needs to be replaced. Mine fail in two weeks after I replaced for the first time, and I end up to replace three gears until I saw it.
Good luck, and I hope you don't need to.

Whilst havin' me coffee, I'm watching this on me smart TV. I have some observations: 1) What a fucking potty mouth! 2) You couldn't do this in Florida this time of year as it's 100,000,000 F! 3) Planned obsolescence? That's horse shit! I'd NEVER by another thing from those yahoo's! 4) Where IS this handy Rusky wife who can pull "C" clips? 5") Hmmmm? Was worried about the gear NOT being bad. Glad it was bad, if you know what it I mean? 6) Gonna need you to fix the date on your Mobius. 7) Did I mention that sweat would be POURING off you if you did this in Florida? 8) You have burly long shore-man hands. 9) Put some gas in yer car ya monkey! 10) I don't know that I would have taken on this project. Good on ya!
