Hello Νικόλας, congratulations from Italy for the great work!
Just two questions, since I’m thinking to do the same manteinance job to my
2008 R1200 GS:

1) Which kind of grease did you use to lubricate the two cardan shaft’s
splines? I was suggested to use Optimoly TA for the splines that come out
from the gearbox and Molybden grease for the spline that is plugged to the
final drive . Will be a problem if I use Molybden Bisolfure grease for both
splines?
2) Before reassembling, did you clean/lubricate any part of the drive shaft?

Thank you very much for your kindness and enjoy your GS! 😉

hello, thanks for your comments!! Sorry, there’s no english version. I’m
not sure if this is the same procedure in GS100

Νικόλας Βαμβακάς says:

unfortunatelly not, you can register in ww.gsforum.gr and there’s a thread
with photos about disassembling final drive

Super video, helpfull for 1200GS service

Νικόλας Βαμβακάς says:

That’s correct, I wanted to check the needle bearing in the final drive,
lubricate it and replace the gasket ring. That’s what I said in 4.30. I
also preffered to dismantle it to deal with less weight when I checked
swing arm’s bearings. 🙂

Mike Horsfield says:

Just what I needed to see is it the same for a gs100 ? and is there an
English version? But very well done

MrCharles960 says:

Perfect video to show process.

Roberto Andara says:

Excellent video very clean job and procedure. Do you have one for changing
the final drive pinion oil seal? If so. Do you have the link. Thanks in
advance

Jos Ros says:

Thanks a lot, excellent video. Why did you choose to remove the final
drive? The swingarm can be taken off with the final drive in place. What
does the text around 4:30 says?

David McCaffery says:

Very well produced video and a professional job. Thanks.
