I think you are mistaken. You either have a convertible, a coupe, or the sedan. If you have the sedan, it should be exactly the same unless you have a different year model.

So there’s 2 connections on the back of the tail light , I get where to plug in the first connection but where does the second connection go ?

I’ve been thinking about upgrading my rear lights, but I remember a friend had an e46 years ago and his tail lights would flash on his aftermarket led’s every 30 seconds or so – we reckoned it was the pulse from the self diagnostic light test. I would be interested to know if these ones do it.

I dis agree…the converts and sedans tail lights are larger then the coupe ones. I know I bought a e46 convert light and tried fitting it on my coupe and it didnt fit right it was a tiny bit bigger plastic on front and it wasnt flush even as it went deeper into socket place.

my wiring harness is different…02 320i…..the led tail light i bought have six pin side beside…..but the car has 7 pin s. 4 on top. 3 on bottom ????
The E46 looks much more robust than the E36 IMHO. I would put in the Signature Motoring performance intake kit for only around $150 and gain up to 13HP on the stock output for the 330i and a bit less for the 325 and 328. I highly recommend this item, see my youtube channel for the action video on it.

I just ordered Eagle Eye brand tail lights for my E46 323CI and haven’t installed them yet. I almost regret buying them since I read up on forums on how they may go bad by flickering or LEDs going out and people suggesting going with the Depo brand or OEM for reliability. Which brand of LED tail lights are those? And is there weather stripping to make them waterproof? I’m worried about my recent purchase and am wondering if I should make a return.
