I have a bmw x3 2006 have been trying to reset at replacing the part for emissions, I unplug both terminals of the battery left it overnight with the headlights on everything on. Still would not reset. Those coats would take forever to disappear like I don't know how many cycles you have to drive, over 20 maybe, I don't have that much time to BMW messed up with this.

Paweł Kozioł says:

If I disconnect the battery, it will decode my radio

Ron Smate says:

Why you need to research issues before taking hearsay as gospel. When you have to change a battery in the MW X5 (from 2005 with E53 or N62 chassis but pretty well any BM after 2002) it is important that you update the ECU to register the change. The main reason for this is because the ECU stores electric energy which varies from the battery power. Registering a new battery also updates the computer controlled alternator. If you do not do it, you may set in motion the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) / Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). Not doing a battery reset may cause other problems like shortening your battery life or in the worst case, damage other electrical components. And that will cost you BIG-TIME.

I'm not sure if you still respond to comments but I have a 1997 BMW Z3 The ignition went out so we wired a button in still had to have the key in the ignition to get it to work it worked for almost a year All of a sudden I was driving and it just died. When I flip the switch to go into accessory 2 it won't go it just goes into accessory one. It will crank but not start none of my dash lights come on. All the lights that come on in accessory 2. By accessory one comes on for my stereo

Sean Glass says:

I replaced the battery starter and alternator and it still dies and won’t start after like 15-20 mins

Great video. Question. I changed my crankshaft position sensor. Plug to the sensor was broken when I reassembled it and caused limp mode. and now my transmission won't leave 3rd or 4th gear. Not sure which gear but won't go over 40mph. I installed a new harness with new plug. Transmission still in the same mode. Do you think a hard reset will help

Hey I have a question and I hope you can help me out here. I have a BMW 325xi, and I have no knowledge of car terms etc but I will try explaining this anyway. Basically the car's ECU has been programmed or coded or whatever to limit the max speed of the car to 30 km/h and I am looking to revert this to it's factory setting or default state. Do you possibly know how to do this? If you need any more info please let me know.

Michael Mask says:

Or you could just run a wire from positive to negative connections without being connected to battery. Make sure battery is disconnected and turn on your headlights, that will drain power out of capacitors. Thx

Tatted Tommys Tv says:

I was looking for a BMW master reset and this pops up lol

td Mike says:

looks like it doesn't work on my f30 🙁

Hugh gober says:

You did a terrible job explaining that. You hooked the positive to the Negative? What? With jumper cables? What? Step by step. Either people go on and on and don't get to the point, or they skip stuff and don't explain it.

Sameh Morkos says:

HI Buddy, Did you find what was draining your battery. I had the same issue and it was the alternator brushes draining the battery. replaced the alternator and all was sweet.

Julie Alvarez says:

This video was soo bad buddy! Wat did u do!!!!!

Francisco Hernandez says:

Will this work on a 2006 330i? recently bought it and came with a burble tune so was told
to reser the ecu would do it?

JaguarBlack says:

Those are jumping cables right? If so, the 2 negative ends of the jumping cables how should they rest out?

fr0sty says:

Sadly this doesnt work if u get DPF error message.

Talib Barr says:

Is that on the positive side

Melissa Morris says:

Where do I put the other end of the cables? Just to the body or chassis of the car?

Jordane Custom says:

Salut ! How many minutes ?

Homer Thompson says:

What are you doing exactly because you didn't explain it very well? Are you taking the just the red side of a jumper cable and hooking both ends to the positive and negative terminals on the car?

Mustafa ranya says:
