Isn’t there a T50 bolt which needs to be removed?

Ashhong1 says:

Awesome thanks. Really simple procedure but I couldn’t find any written
tutorial for this.

Marius Nilsen says:

is this job difficult? i’m no mechanic but wanting to install a mtech 2
bumper myself. Thanks

Dan Tsuchiya says:

Your issue might be that the piece attached to the bumper is missing
because that should slide into that slot present on the plastic bracket.
There is no way to “snap” the pieces into place, you need to slide the
bumper cover off and then back into place….though you might be missing
that one support piece altogether.

Dan Tsuchiya says:

8 plastic rivets under the deco/trim strips do need to be removed, this
procedure is clarified later into the video.

Dan Tsuchiya says:

pcmtech, at about 4 minutes into the video I explain how the bumper is
attached on the sides. You can take a peak behind your fender well cover
with a flashlight and see if the side bracket, but more importantly the
piece that is attached to the bumper is aligned in the slot. There is a
screw that is guided by a hole in the fender well cover and you have to
make sure this is hole is not deformed and your fender well cover is
aligned properly. Previous front end damage can affect all of these.

Dan Tsuchiya says:

I think the T50 bolt might be for the M3 2 door front bumper, slightly
different.

Could you tell me what Bumper that is? It looks sweet! I’m looking to get a
cooler looking bumper os me 325I

Great stuff. I may take my bumper off to spray the grey grill on my Mystic
Blue ZHP coupe flat black. Not sure if I will like it or not. Hard to tell
if it is faded or just made grey.

Dan Tsuchiya says:

This bumper is the one off the ZHP optioned 330i sedan 2004/2005. It’s the
sport bumper.

David Rodriguez says:

My bumper sits higher on one side. Can I adjust the piece it rests on up
and down?

Does anyone know the name of this bumper or is just called e46 front
bumper? Thanks!

Dan Tsuchiya says:

e46 is the BMW chassis designation, note that two door and four door front
bumpers are different. If you are specifying parts from a dealer have your
year, make, model and trim available or your Vehicle ID Number. The job is
not too difficult, the most challenging part is removing the trim without
scratching the bumper. Allow plenty of time to experiment as you remove the
pieces.

Duyen Bui says:

I believe the correct way to remove the bumper is with the bumper and
carrier together as an assembly, which means you don’t have to remove all
those pesky plastic clips under the front molding and behind the lower
grille. The two T50 bolts that should be located somewhere in the fog light
hole covers will release the carrier.

Dan Tsuchiya says:

dclrod – I presume you mean the bumper frame, the previous owner may have
been in an accident where it was pushed up or tweaked. The only way to move
that up or down is to adjust there it mounts (you may need to slot the
mount) or somehow re-tweak the piece back into shape….which it probably
more difficult unless you have a hydraulic mechanism.

Dan Tsuchiya says:

Yes thanks, there isn’t much written on these non-M3 front bumpers. Save
yourself some money and do as much DIY as you can. I removed the bumper
myself so that I can have my paint guy redo the front bumper and then I
reattached it. He would have charged me an additional 2-3 hours…and in
California that’s a lot.

Dan Tsuchiya says:

Unfortunately your car may have suffered some impact, or the previous owner
had the clips break off. Best to take it to a reputable body shop to have
them check it out.

Great vid. Hi just acquired a 2002 325i sedan with sport package and i
noticed that both sides of the front bumper is popped away from the
clip.(about 3/8 inch at the corner. Is there a way to secure these by
snapping them back in the clips?
