There is a fan back there to cool the electronics, this is probably what we’re hearing.

kleyboy says:

hi, I can hear a strange sound(like fast clicking sound) when you hold your camera close to that cupholder, is that normal? cause I can hear similiar sound when im getting into my e39

wiredawg says:

Nevermind, I manage to pull it out. But could not access the climate control knobs. Will try to access them by removing the radio…

wiredawg says:

Seem easy enough. Though, I was attempting to remove mine, the screws came out easy enough. But, the cup holder was not cooperating. I chose not to pull as I did not want to break some it. There’s nothing wrong with mine, I was trying to access the climate control knobs (your vid does not have them). I have 3 manual knobs (temp/vents/blower control). It all works, except my vent control will not access the defrost position. It will move to floor & front vents, but not the defrost vents.

It was just in the middle of such a large messy job, that video will be coming.

MrTech786 says:

I’m not trying to be rude. I really like watching this channel, but it only takes a minute to plug in a Hoover and clean the area you’re filming. No excuse I’m afraid! Apart from that, a good DIY…

BMWforLife says:

I just had to replace my cup holders for the 2nd time already! They were not thought out very well.

Fantastic video! Good job; very informative.

EduWestCoastRap says:

You sound like Jimmy Tatro :O

Smenny says:

Are you serious? He makes some of the better videos on this channel. And why would he clean it out when he is in the middle of changing out the headliner? No point in cleaning it out, only to make it dirty again right away. I’ll bet you don’t clean out every spec of dirt in your car WHILE it’s in a garage getting some work done. He explained how to change the darn cup holders, what else can you possibly expect?

MrTech786 says:

Quite disrespectful having a dirty car interior like that. It makes the videos look very cheap and dirty, and you are not keeping with in terms of standard with the other member’s DIY’s. if people can take the time out to watch the videos, you should make an effort to clean the interior of the car. Changing the headliner is no excuse for having grime on the dash like that! Poor really…

Joe Black says:

Hello!
Will there be any tut on how to change the headliner?

E39Source says:

Thank you about the headliner by the way! Appreciate it! 🙂

E39Source says:

They really are! I remember when I took this car on a test drive I asked the previous owner if they were broken. That’s how common of a problem this is.

Roy Visser says:

it sure is a weak point. Nice movie. they sound new too 😉

goodluck on your roof 🙂
