Good Job, changing a starter is one of my least DIY projects. Thanks for
sharing your experiences.
ok is a tricky ? how hard is it to chage the exhaust gasket. im needing to
do them cyl 1-4.
Thanks for getting back to me so fast. Now I know what to do if anything
happens. (Car currently will not start, No crank. 740IL 01)
One of the harder tasks is locating the bolts so you are half way done.
Just make sure to disconnect the battery, you don’t want sparks flying and
make sure car is not hot. Straight forward task. Good luck and let us know
how it went.
Did you have to take the engine out? Do you have to?
Thanx for the video helped me a lot knowing where the bolts were. A little
tip for others turn youre wheels to point left makes for a little more room
with the e39.
Hey Clay, Its our pleasure.
it actually went better than i expected….that top bolt is a real pain in
the butt to get out but i did…the only problem i ran into is that the
site where i ordered the new starter sent me the wrong one so…my e38 is
just sitting there waiting for the correct starter to come.
I know I’m 1 moth late but Very nice Job. I was considering this work
myself. Literally was trying to figure out what was wrong with my BMW and
came to the conclusion it was the starter. But, what I didn’t know is that
the a Fuse had blown but looked perfectly fine from the outside. Ended up
going to a mechanic with the car on a trailer just to have him yell at me
it was the fuse. (More of a friend)
That is a tricky job because of the limited space you have to work with.
You will need lots of patience
no man…i just drove my car onto ramps so i could get under it….it’s a
pain in the butt but it took me around 2 hours to do it….not bad
considering it was the first time i attempted this.
Im about to change mine…..now i’m a little scared lol……you’re video
helped me locate the starter. I’ll get back to u with the results
