Hey Z what’s up thanks for posting the vids and sharing the knowledge ;), I changed the clutch line on my BMW e39 and I didn’t the master cylinder. I believe air past thru to the abs unit. Now my traction control is off constant and my abs light is on. I would like to know what you think if I were to jump the relay for the abs pump to try and get the fluid back into the abs module? P.s. thanks ahead

DazzaBimmerM3 says:

Do you know if these solenoids can be used in the vanos system?

اركان الخزاعي says:

I want to stop (ABS) disabled tire is not the lamp
bmw 525i vanos m50 . 1992 .E34

millertimebmw says:

In this case, there might be air in the ABS pump itself. At the dealer they will flush the system and connect a computer to the system to cycle all valves to work out any remaining air from the system. You can always try to manually bleed the system yourself and then the car will auto-check the system as it always does upon restarting the car.
Good luck!
Z

millertimebmw says:

I’m sorry, do you mean the ABS just stopped working? ABS Light “on” on the Instrument cluster?

millertimebmw says:

This might be a mechanical break in the pump, unfortunately. But I would try to check the resistance of all the electrical connections in the pump itself first!
It may be an easy fix!

Good Luck!
Z

Hi, electrician diagnosed with OBD, that mine ABS left rear brakes ABS outlet valve is stuck, any possibilities to fix it ?

millertimebmw says:

This almost sounds like a Power issue, perhaps a bad relay? Fuse?

Hello, My 99 M3 is at a mechanic now and the 2 front wheel speed sensors have no power to them. They can’t figure out the problem. Would replacing this unit be the cure? Thanks!

esjayay says:

by the way the cruise control is not working too.

esjayay says:

Hello,
I have a BMW 545i SE. The ABS light, Handbrake light, Traction control light stay on all the time. I spoke to the garage they say I may need a ABS module or a speed sensor. The steering wheel is perfectly aligned so I suspect it wont be the sensor anyway plus the 3 lights being on all the time. Is there anyway I could fix this myself?

Nastrusnicu says:

it’s error 39 asb pump I just ckech’it today. my pump is different insise

millertimebmw says:

Hello,
Possibly, if the ABS doesn’t work then the ASC can not use the brakes to stop the wheel spin.
good Luck!

Nastrusnicu says:

Can this be the problem for the ASC too ?
Error nº40?

spelunkerd says:

When you disconnect the ABS pump, is there a special procedure for bleeding the brakes after ABS removal?

millertimebmw says:

This is a wheel speed sensor on your car.

montenegro132 says:

my abs lifgt go on after i put my car in drive and go 10 feet ,it comes on abs brake lihgt and sircle warning lihgts, can some one help me ?is my abs unit pump gone or is a speed sensor? thanks

A. Shiga says:

The ABS light in my car turns off after startup as if it were ok, but when I actually put the ABS to work, it doesn’t seem to work in one or more of the wheels, other times it doesn’t seem to work at all with no typical vibration on the pedal, wheels simply lock. However I never get the ABS light on after it started up. Got any idea?

tdog4500 says:

nice repair vid, but honestly i wouldnt recommend doing this, the auto manufactureres use that ribbon wire for a reason, your working with a very important unit of the braking system, im not doubting your skill or knowledge but if there were just hypotheticaly speaking a serious accident happened due to an abs problem and was investigated and found tampered abs unit, there would be serious trouble there. R&R is the best if that is the fault, i work for bmw, please do not attempt this to save $

Abdallah Nassif says:

wouldnt the change of wires create problems?? since wires will have more resistance and mess the up the electronics.

WolfBanger7689 says:

Wow Thank You Zach, My ABS light is on all the time from the moment i start my car, so I’m gonna try this out if after replacing the relay’s the light is still on. BFC FTW!!!

apharot says:

My ABS and ASC light occasionally comes on. Most times when I turn the car off and go into the store or something, I come back out, start the car, both lights are on, I start driving, and it goes off when I shift into second. Any tips?

millertimebmw says:

The cruise control should work with or without the ABS working. I don’t think they would be related. Unless you had a bad brake switch.

millertimebmw says:

I’m not sure to be honest, I would think as you said it provides a softer feel.

BMWontrack says:

I have own 8+ E36 M3, 92 thru 95+, 318, 325, and M3.
I have a question, there are subtle differences in the brake “feel” between early 92 (firm brakes) and later. Have you seen in the ABS unit itself if the later units have a pressure accumulator to soften the ABS pump cyclic vibrations? I believe this is why the later ABS brakes systems are not as firm as the early 92.

paintdemon69 says:

so my abs light is usually on, every once in awhile, it will stay off untill i drive a few miles but 99% of the time its constantly on. just recently ive been having problems with my cruise control, the cruise will either not work at all or it will work for a few seconds then slowly dog down, so….could my bad soilinoids be the cause of both???

besembo says:

very nice ….. thanks a lot )
