Hi, this was very easy to follow and I have been able to reprogramme my fob
but it will only operate the central locking. When I put it on the ignition
the display says SAFE, and won’t start the car.. How can I resolve this
without paying high costs with the dealer ?

Is there a way to program a key, if i only have one? I have a 2001 VW passat
If you only have one key fob: 1: Key in ignition. 2: Turn on, but don’t
start car(dash will light up). 3: Press and hold lock on fob. 4: Press and
hold lock on door. 5: Release lock on door. 6: release lock on fob. 7:
Repeat steps 3-6 with UNLOCK on fob and door. Worked for me – 2003 A4.

cars dies two seconds later( i had swtiched the old shell*key* to a new
shell)????

I let the battery die in both keys (i didn’t know key fobs would need
re-programming!) what do you do in this case?

Worked perfectly on our2003 Audi A4 Convertible
if this method does not work for you, thewn im afraid its a dealer repair
and keys will have to be coded, there are mobile auto electricians who
possibly can do this.
Does this work on programming a key from another car to yours? Them being
the same model of audi’s.

This was by far my favorite video explaining how to reprogram my remote.
However, it didn’t work for me. So I tried something on my own and it
WORKED!! I had 2 non working FOB’s. Very Important!! Roll down window just
in-case it doesn’t work for you! Lock all doors, use key ‘A’ and open the
trunk leaving the key in it.Take key ‘B’ and unlock the drivers door, press
unlock. TaDa!!Take out keys and repeat using ‘B’ to open the trunk and ‘A’
to unlock the drivers door! Worked on 2000 Passat!
