How to Install a Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser on Audi S3 8V

How to Install a Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser on Audi S3 8V

My fellow Audi S3 Fanatics, after a ton of request to create this DIY, I finally found a local subscriber to volunteer his car for the task. A big shout out goes to Steve W. of Orange County for graciously loaning me your S3 and helping with the install. Thomas, at EMD Auto needs the proper credit as he shared with me his experience for a successful and proper installation.

As many of you know, it’s been over a year and a half that I installed my carbon fiber rear diffuser. At the time, I rushed while recording the DIY and did a poor job during the installation. Technique wise, it was also performed improperly. Today’s DIY will focus on the PROPER way to remove your OEM rear diffuser, and replace it with an aftermarket CF one.

There will be four main parts:
– removal of rear brake lamps and trunk interior panels
– removal of the bumper
– removal of the OEM diffuser
– installation of the new CF diffuser

Once the diffuser is successfully installed, you’ll just back track and re-install the bumper and other components. It’s a DIY that’s a bit more challenge, but 100% doable. I highly recommend having at least the rear end up on jack stands, and having a friend help.

If any of you are local to OC and need me to do the work, let me know and I will gladly install it for you! As always, thank you for watching and supporting my channel!

If you also have a vehicle you would like featured on my channel, let’s get together and talk!
Until the next time, this is Peter, The Audi S3 Fanatic!

Great video but some parts are different on the sportback model ie the rear lights and the trim at the start are all one piece and are removed from inside the car. Also them plastic bolts are different.

Ray Be kind to others, it goes a long way says:

Hi Peter, I hope you and your loved ones are doing well.

Did your Audi S3 ever had carbon build up issues? I just saw a video where a 2019 Golf R with 10k miles had some carbon build up on the valves.

I hope not.

Take care

What is the part called that the diffuser is screwed on to under the car?
My diffuser was installed but not screwed on (2 screws). It shakes if you add some forceful wiggles.

order two carbon fiber diffusers from different companies and fitment is terrible.. haven't had any luck getting a good mold

Is there any way you think a 2015 diffuser fit on a 2016 model? Are the bumpers different?

Zain B says:

Hey Peter which diffuser did you put on your s3? And can you do a review?

Kofod Wedel says:

Do you really need to remove the whole rear bumper to replace diffuser?
Cant you just put the car on the lift, and pull off the diffuser without removeing the rear bumper?
I did that on my old a3 sedan from 2014 before the facelift.

Jonson says:
