Why would a car company use plastic pieces on critical engine components? My only guesses are to either reduce timing chain noise, to keep costs low, or just to design the engine to fail. I love the S4 but after seeing this, holy balls.

Does anyone have the step by step on how to set the timing? I’m doing my head gaskets this weekend. I’ve already got the motor out, just waiting on parts.
@N3Patriots Normal chain rattle in the morning chain tensioners need to build up oil pressure.
Did you go ahead and replace other parts on the engine as well, Head gasket? or any other major part that would require an engine pull. Also How much total time did you spend on the whole repair and are the estimates you spent on parts? and an estitmate of how much it’d be for labor? Trying to decide whether or not I should look into doing this myself or saving to have it done or just sell my car now.
How many miles on yours? Mine is an ’04 B6 with 113k and know it will have to be done at some point. I get the engine rattle when it’s cold though I think thats normal. I’m dreading having to do so.
