Thanks Matt great information,I just changed my oil last night for the
first time myself. Wish I would have watched your video first, as it would
have saved me a lot of time finding the filter cartridge. TOP OF ENGINE..
go figure 🙂 I believe the larger steel washer is for the oil drain plug,
but I had the same little steel Approx 3/8″ 10MM in dia washer and for the
life of me could not figure where it went. Anyone know where that goes? Or
if I need it for a 4.2L engine?
Wow… Still too much of a piece of shit to admit you’re wrong huh? This
video has almost 53,000 views and 3 dislikes and I bet 1 of them is your’s.
Don’t you think there’d be a lot of people out there disliking this video
if there was an ounce of truth to what you are saying? Plus, if he didn’t
drain the oil and then tried to add 9.5 quarts of oil, it would have
overflowed. Finally, the transmission only holds 3.5 quarts of gear
lubricant, easily discernible from 9.5 quarts… unless it’s you.
1) Hold in the wrench button on the dash. 2) While still holding in the
wrench button, depress the clutch and start the car. 3) Now immediately let
go of the wrench button and hit the 0.0 button on the dash (that’s the
button use use to reset the odometer).
Ive been looking all over for someone to ask this. My washer doesnt spray
out anymore. The fuses arent blown. Does anybody know what the problem
could be? 2003 A4 1.8tq
Hey Matt… Thanks for the video, I’ve drained the oil from this same exact
plug 3 times in the last 9 months and my car is still running perfectly
too. I apologize for starting an argument in your video comments but I’m
trying to get STFpolice1 to understand he’s wrong so he can stop giving
your video a bad reputation. It really pisses me off to see ignorant
assholes talking shit and spewing lies about somebody who is trying to help
a bunch of people. Thanks again, great video!
ok its a allen key…warm engine up 1st..most.. you need to change your
nice clothes??..do you work in a office by the way/..youare indeed a
typical american dear chap ok video however you need to no what your up
against prior to work like a banker must be on guard before the fraud squad
attack
I see 5w 40 in the parts stores now and even at walmart where they have
Valvoline synpower 5w40 European formula that is 502,505 complaint. if you
are at napa you can get german made lubro moly oil there as well, but quite
expensive. 9 bucks a liter.
Nice Video, I do this on my Subaru. I was interested in this new style of
oil filter. Looks to make things much easier. Someone asked the question
about burning engine oil in between oil changes. Is this a common problem
on the Audi 4.2 V8?
Next time, leave the car cold when you’re doing the oil change, turning the
car and warming it up just moves oil back to the top end of the engine and
takes time to drain back to the pan (for the majority) although this really
doesn’t impact the amount coming out by much, also synthetic oil moves very
freely..
@miketothesupra I just did….but it was a pain in the ass to do so
(because it was cracked a little bit due to hitting a peice of tire that
was on highway)
Matt – Love it!! The same dirt lot where I did the rotors and pads on the
Subaru and where the 72 BMW 2002 lived for a bit!! Is there consensus that
the extra silver washer is for the drain plug? Cameron
Well the saturation in the picture appears to be really low, look at his
fingers at 9:19. But also, the instrument cluster comes in white stock and
glows red when you have the lights on.
Great video. Love your attitude and patience. I love working on my car even
when I can afford to so it is refreshing to see this. Another benefit is
knowing it is done right. I’ve had too many top tier dealer “professionals”
make careless mistakes like leaving screws undone or tools under the hood,
etc. Great video hope you make more for your Audi.
@RRViper800TT I have a 2006 audi a4 3.2L with 90k on it, no problems at all
except the coils(which got replaced FREE from audi since its a recall), the
only other problems with audis are carb buildup in the engine from bad
maintenance, these cars need fresh oil more then others, but ther quality
is amazing especially in the winter!! 140km/hr down the highway in the
worst snowstorm of the year, suvs were swerving at 60km/hr
thanks for your post. Thinking of getting an ’05 S4 with 80k miles from a
local dealer for $16k. I have done DIY oil changes on 3series and
infinities so your clip really helps me prepare.

That other metal washer is to replace the washer around your oil drain
plug.
Thanks for the video. Helped me out a lot.

Great video! Very helpful!
Matt! You crack me up!! – Derek
@mbrenengen Because he is a hater. This car is great
How can a video like that have so many thumbs up ? make the same mistake
and go drive without tranny fluid and your gearbox is basically ruined

Hey Matt just got my 2004 S4 2 months ago and your post and video really
helped. Thanks alot. BTW – do you have one for the fuel filter change?
You said he drained his transmission genius. You’re too much of an ignorant
piece of shit to admit or even realize you’re wrong.
thankyou for sharing….great video
@mbrenengen Because you look like Weird al Yankovic stick with your
computers, push button fingers cant operate spanners.

I like how poor people drive luxury cars too.
Nice video. I want to get a used A8 2007+, do they cause expensive
problems?. Any problems with the engine?.

Yeah – it’s always better to be ignorant – and broke .

Where did you get your filter I tried pep boys no luck?
Actually, I think the converse if probably true. Care to explain?
Oh my god! Thankyou so much! This help me out so much
Audi specs state the engine oil capacity is 11.3 qts. If you are adding
less and less oil each oil change, you might need a mild engine oil flush.
Thanks for sharing. I’m a DIY kind of guy so this helps alot.
Lmao…I give up, BAG OF TRICKS! JUST GO TO THE MECHANIC ALREADY NEWB!
@miketothesupra I just did….but it was a pain in the ass to do so

Thanks for the advice. I’ll look in to it
Every oil sump (pan?) I have ever seen has bolts all the way around like
that.
will 5w-30 synn oil work too?
Does your engine burn engine oil? If yes, how did you solve it? My car
does. And I have to add 1 qtr oil every a few thousands miles.

Probably leaking form your valve cover gaskets. Easy fix.
tx 4 d tip v.very handy but the engine reset did not indicate any days or
miles4 the next service, any idea pls?
@STFpolice1 How does it feel to look like a complete smug moron ?
also how often do you change your oil?
17.4 mpg….damn!!! well, i guess that’s what you get when you buy(or
lease) a V8
Yeah, check the video for stupidity. The cunt in it is pretty fucking dumb.
Well the saturation in the picture appears to be really low, look at his

Thanks! This was brilliant. We get absolutely ripped off in South Africa
when it comes to car prices and their maintenance.

That metal thing you got with your oil filter was a new washer for your
drain bolt.
Videos like this are what results when people have more money than brains.
Thanks man this vidwo is great help me. A lot
