Audi A4 Water Pump & Thermostat Replacement DIY (2017-2024 Audi B9 A4, A5, Sportback, Allroad)

►Your Audi’s water pump circulates engine coolant throughout the engine, ensuring it doesn’t overheat. However, it will wear out at a certain point, forcing you to replace it. A worn pump shows itself with a small coolant leak at first, before it eventually stops spinning altogether if left in place. Failing to replace it in time will lead to overheating and catastrophic engine damage.

Replacing the water pump on Audi’s EA888 engine is a more involved job than something like an oil change or brake service. The pump itself takes some work to access, and you’ll need to fill and bleed the coolant once you put the engine back together. But, do it right, and you can save yourself a good bit of money. Luckily for you, we’re here to show you how to do it right.

In this video, Rusty Herten, FCP Euro’s In-House Technician, replaces the water pump and thermostat on an Audi B9 A4.
