Upgrading the Factory Subwoofer in Your Acura | 3G Acura TL DIY Subwoofer Upgrade 2004 05 06 07 2008

The Acura line of cars are often equipped with higher end sound systems. These higher end sound systems use an 8 inch free air component subwoofer to deliver bass to your sound stage. Sometimes that bass isn’t enough when you want more bass you may consider upgrading the subwoofer.

In this video we demonstrate how to upgrade your subwoofer in your Acura TL from 2004-2008 including the Type S. If you have a type s just remember you have active noise cancellation throughout the vehicle and it will play other noises through your subwoofer if you do amplify the power going to it.

We also demonstrate the factory amplifier being upgrade in this video with one of our plug and play amps so if you are interested in those check out the links below.

Cuna Lingas Johnson says:

thank you for this! i finally got the instructions i needed.
and take your time speaking bro you sound super rushed, but please stop swallowing next to the camera its really hard to watch/listen to especially during important explanations or when it gets super quiet in the video.

Alex Nazario says:

Where are y’all located? And how. Much does it cost? Like what did this costumer pay for you to swap out parts and labor? Thanks

Christopher Mosley says:

Interesting when I installed my pioneer nex double din I didn't have to do any of that. I didn't bypass the factory amp I basically tapped in for the aftermarket radio for just the subwoofer only and used the crossover from the radio and left the factory speakers and amp it basically ran like a component set up it was very clear and crisp bas came from a separate 8skar 900 down to 1ohm didn't even touch the factory sub

DaJohnimalX426 says:

I have a box taking up too much space in my trunk that I want to take out to set up air ride. Will the Pioneer fit a 04 TL? How do I get the adapter?

Marcos Hernandez says:

So the kicker you used went into an 07-08 TL or a 04-06

Glad to have found your channel, WTG AAG. —- I noticed you have quite a few 3G videos, do you have any plans for a few more 4G? I have a '12 TL base and will overhaul the stereo, replace the head w/Mehtra dash kit and Pio 4500NEX, Fdoors-JBL component 606's, dampen rear deck, replace fact sub w/KickerC – for mid bass- **great VID BTW***, Rear – Eclipse Pt Source 6.5, add 8 or 10-Kicker CompVR- sealed .5-.75 box in the trunk-***watching your Vid next on the TL Sub install** – F& R – running off 4x Alpine MVX v-12, 8 & 10 subs – Ph Gold ZX-450 – w/1 Farad Cap. Considering a sm. old Alpine 3522 – 35×2 – set to Mono to run the center channel. And am using new speaker wire throughout – Was going to use AudControl- LC8i for factory head and tap the signal but a friend said signal would be garbage and change it to new head unit (Pioneer or something equiv) – Ques – is there enough room where the factory 6 disc changer is now to accommodate the 4500 without cutting into the dash behind? And what wiring kit do you suggest to keep steering wheel controls? I'll be using the stereo mic provided and mount at the driver visor or map light? I scoured as much as poss on Acurazine and other UT vids, not much around for 4G, correct me if I'm wrong, any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks again great channel!!!

Will this work for 8th gen civic si?

sergio newsome says:

I installed a pioneer after market double din to my 2000 acura tl and a sub with amp. I make my connections with simple harness, and connected the sub directly to the back of the stereo with RCAs. all speakers sound fine, but there is nothing coming out of the sub, it is powering on, its just not working. Im using the aftermarket stereo to power the factory door speakers. any tips you could give me.. it seems that maybe my stereo is not recognizing the sub?? what do you think

Nick Rah says:

fix that squeak dawg ughhhhhhh that would annoy the crap outta me..

Charles Poore says:

How can I buy the bypass kit

BSams says:

Make sure after you apply the sound deadening on the bottom of the rear deck panel that you put the factory polyfill layer back on. Or you can get some foam to go over the deadening to prevent them rattling against each other. Its called decoupling the panels.

Mr C says:

My TL also makes that stupid tensioner pulley noise

the most high over everyone says:

Joseph Morales says:

What is the count of speakers doors, tweets, and sub in a 2008 Acura TL 6.5's and one 8" sub?

Sean Clarke says:

I've watched the whole video from start to finish, and been re watching lots of little bits here and there. Just have a question: Because the 04 stock sub is 2 ohms, and the focal sub I want to put in is 4 ohms, does that cause an issue with the factory amp due to higher resistance? I'll end up replacing the amp eventually, or maybe upfront with the speakers, but yea just curious. thanks

Acura Chew says:

Thoughts on just replacing the factory sub with an aftermarket one vs spare tire sub set up?
