Nexus 7 in the Acura TL (My setup, How-To, Pros/Cons)

Nexus 7 in the Acura TL (My setup, How-To, Pros/Cons)

THIS MOD CAN BE DONE IN MOSTLY ANY CAR!! Not limited to the Acura TL. With that said..
I had a lot of questions and comments about the Nexus 7 mod in my Acura TL. So I decided to go more in-depth and show how I did my setup. I hope this helps anyone that wants to tackle this mod, because it most definitely worth it (to me at least).
My setup cost $200+..BUT I already had the BT45-HON3 device and a lot of other items. So it really cost me $100 give or take. And the cost would go down lower if I opted to use lower quality components. But I didn’t want “normal” quality sound lol.

Joel Colon says:

How do you get it to power up and down when needed ?

Manorouth Sayasaeng says:

in the write up it says you cant use the volume control switches or any of that with the 2013 version. were you able to get it to where all those functions still work?

Charlie G says:

Wouldn't it be easier put the tablet inside and run power to it then use Bluetooth for everything
Or does it have to be rooted and put in a kernel app

Mark Oseman says:

hi mate been trying to find timur's Kernel where did you download it from

Naaman Endres says:

Loving the setup and looking to do the same myself soon, but I have a question which I cannot find an answer.
If swapping out the nav for the nexus tablet, how do you go about updating the time/clock on the display above?

kylanmon says:

Your steering wheel controls and stock bass still work ok after this install?

Trending Machic says:

You should do apple carplay!

Jhosh Garcia says:

Yo use the bluetooth or the auxiliar from the tablet?

Hey Man,

Recently purchased a 06 Acura TL with 87k miles on it.
Navi cd/rom drives seems to be the problems and don’t want to send to alpine to fix it for 360.

Would you still recommend this set-up in 2020? To make the car look as stock as possible? The only two things I care about is the music (Spotify) and Navi really.. everything else is just extra to me!

basmaiyya basmaiyya says:

Is the BT necessary?

Joshua Wustman says:

I never saw your video before. Nice work! Dave's post on Acurazine is the best out there. I've been slowly working on my tablet modification for over a year now lol. I do not have Navi in mine, so I have been soldering like crazy to extend my HVAC and radio displays. I'm about finished with my soldering and am getting ready to mount the tablet. I originally wanted to stray away from using molding putty just in case I wanted to remove the tablet. How easily removable is it once it hardens? Is there any way you can remove the tablet and save the putty or no? I'm debating if I wanted to install some sort of hook mechanism as an alternative to keep the tablet in place.

How do i add the layouts like that

adam sahli says:

Can I use a Galaxy Tab A8in vs a Nexus 7?

terrell rogers says:

Could I buy one and send it to you payyou to root and set up and I'll install it??

Juan Mata says:

I'm in the process of gathering parts. I'm confused about the purpose of the aux from the bt45-hon3? Why don't you just connect the Nexus 7 to Bluetooth? I have an 08 TL, with the bt45-hon3 installed so I'm wondering if I have to wire an aux from my aux port to the the Nexus 7?

SendLudeS says:

hey man any idea if theres a way for me to hook up amplifier & Subs with this nexus 7 mod ? thank you

Leo Gutierrez says:
