Mod MINI says:

I worked on a Toyota 4×4 pickup that had a hydraulic clutch operation and
an adjustable linkage behind the clutch pedal. The owner complained of
difficulty getting the car in gear and shifting — meaning the clutch
wasn’t full disengaging because the pedal was too high. We lengthened the
adjustor to enable full clutch disengagement.

David Bartz says:

+EricTheCarGuy I’ve noticed that I have the slightest amount of play in my
2010 bmw 135i which I got used last year. If I’m going around 10 mph in
1st and drop the gas completely and suddenly I can feel a slight jerk after
a fraction of a second when the car starts slowing down almost as if the
clutch is taking a second to catch the engine speed change. However this
doesn’t always happen and can be difficult to make happen. Is this normal?
First stick shift I’ve owned so I don’t really know.

jarad antwine says:

i can go into 1st gear then second but when i try to put it in 3 or 5th is
sometimes grinds and never goes in 3rd or 5th. Could this be an indicator
of a bad clutch or bad transmission?

cougar10ag says:

Of course ford would take a perfectly good design, and change it to
something completely fucking stupid. Just like their dumb ass ccrm modules
with relays in them. Why take normal relay controlled circuits and put the
relays in a stupid “module” and make it way more complicated than it needs
to be? Yeah can’t wait till that throw out bearing seal leaks and soaks the
clutch disc in brake fluid.

Rito Heysham says:

My Acura Integra stalls when I push the clutch in. Any ideas whats wrong or
if its clutch pressure plate related ?? Please reply nobody has a clue. :-(

Ace Acme says:

My clutch blew out fucc

Joseph Aloysius says:

I was wondering if you could help me with a question about a clutch
problem.

I was idle at a red light and when i went into first to go, i heard some
kinda something as if something popped off.

When in first, it wouldn’t go anywhere, reverse wouldn’t work. my RMP gauge
would go up and even my speed would say i was going 20mph but nothing. When
i pushed it into a parking lot and had it tow’d, i noticed something was
leaking out alot. I didn’t think to check but can do in the morning to see
if it was clutch reservoir empty or not now. The clutch won’t grab any
gears. Could it be the slave cylinder? or more then one problem?

Any ideas on possible problem when clutch wont grab gears?

tony santoro says:

Hey stop beating on ppls shit buddy.

airtec87 says:

my car is hard to shift in gear while on, and sometimes I need to turn the
car off to get it in 1st gear. Sometimes doing this while car is off and in
1st then turning ignition on it seems to want to stall out (shakes a bit)
with the clutch pedal fully depressed….

JonO387 says:

I am having no problems like you described with my clutch. My problems are
that it won’t even go into gear. It seems to be stuck in neutral and the
stick just moves freely. The pedal feels fine and there is no noise. It’s
at the shop and they won’t get back to me till tomorrow. Any ideas what it
could be?

Gobiee says:

I remeber when I was learning to drive stick I burnt the clutch in a month .

Hi Eric I have a 2012 honda civic si with manual trans. when I’m on fully
stop then go to 1st gear when I release the clutch pedal and don’t r
ealease all the way and step on gas I hear a scraping or grinding sound but
I does’nt happen all the time this car is only 19k I got it last week and I
went to the dealer they said its fine its like they don’t wanna fix it and
I’m not convince i’ve been driving stick shift for 23 yrs I’ve never
encounter this kind of issues and I have a auto mechanic back round u think
could be a throw out bearing or friction disc I can send recorded video so
u can hear the noise thank’s

Brian Westmoreland says:

I dont have any power loss in higher gears, my system is hydraulic. Mr
will not go into any gear while runnin, but will go into gear with engine
off. The clutch was replaced two years ago, is it possible my slave
cylinder is not pressing on release fork for the throw out bearing?

ToreDL87 says:

What about when the clutch pedal does return, the clutch arm moves etc etc
all signs that clutch should work, but I start the car and STILL cant get
it in gear?? new slave, new master, clutch disc+pressure plate+flywheel are
all fine, pedal even adjusted ALL the way out to be sure, clutch still wont
work :S

I`m completely stomped here!!

Guy Barnett says:

What about when your in gear car doesn’t move and makes loud grinding
noises (2000 Honda civic si) I’ve had clutches go out but not make that

Hey guys i need help. I have a 94 Toyota Corolla that seems to be having a
problem going into 4th gear. Every time i switch to 4th it makes a grinding

the problem be??

nick morlan says:

Whats up Eric!! on my 02 Subaru Wrx iv’e come to notice when I Accelerate,
the RPM gauge jumps from 3000rpms to 5000rpm also when this happens the
tac dial is fluctuating inside that 3-5k range then after 5 it seems to
accelerate like normal do you think this could be a early sign of the
clutch starting to go???

Thanks Nick

Pasha Ahmed says:

I am new to manual cars and i have just bought a 02 jetta GLS 1.8 Turbo. I
was just wondering if there is a way to check the clutch plate without
taking apart anything? Also what a bad clutch plate looks like?

joel butcher says:

hi eric,
i have a 2001 citroen saxo 1.1
i know lame but first car:P
the clutch feels like it is it 2 stages before pushing it right to the
floor, and then when i go to start off in 1st gear ( normal revs ) and
slowly let off the clutch until it bites… it kind of judders forward a
little bit and will stall unless i put my foot down, only problem is then
im setting off too quickly:L i dont think the clutch is biting and holding,
it feels as if the clutch is either completely on or completely off if that
makes sence, is this time for a new clutch or do you think i could get away
with adjusting it?
thanks,
joel.
