Battery DEAD in 8 HOURS? (Shop Already "Fixed It"…? Acura MDX)

Sounds like this 2006 Acura MDX has a MASSIVE parasitic battery drain…
Customer says that the battery dies in 8 HOURS, and he needs to jump start the car every day!

He already had another shop unplug the common “HandsFree Link Bluetooth Module” based on my previous video, but apparently that didn’t help.
He mentioned that the battery itself was tested at Advance Auto Parts, and that it checked out OK.

Let’s see if we can reproduce the customer complaint, and pinpoint the actual source of the draw.

The results may surprise you πŸ™‚

My 07 TL had the same issue when I bought it. Killed a few batteries before I found out what was causing it. Hfl.

Nice fix Ivan.

I see a lot of comments bashing the "technician". It's not completely the techs fault. The flat rate pay system sucks. Everyone in that industry knows it but I don't see it changing. It's not at all like a salary or hourly job.

@LesReeves says:

Probably said it before when you buy a vehicle (new/used) get a repair manual.Cheers Ivan .

@melvinjones3895 says:

I unplugged the one that was the easiest to unplug, that was easy. That would be the first thing to look at What was unplugged. Still needs a battery , Again.

Aren't fancy electronics great kids?

@gianfrancoa says:

Hopefully the owner learned to not take the car to Monroe for other than tires and suspension work

@THEGREENBEAR1723 says:

I’ve never heard that way of testing batteries honestly I learn something new every day, would apply the same method across all sizes of batteries?

@GarnConstructionInc says:

Nice NPR as the battery was already spanked. A few long weekends discharging .2 amps in the winter will lead to no starts in short⚑ order!

@YOUZTUBE2000 says:

Ivan, nice job- again! As you and others have said before: start with verifying customer complaint/ concern and finish by verifying the repair.

@BlackSuburban says:

How do you like those Ukrainian jet ski drones, John?

@senanfoutchedjev2401 says:

Ha, very funny Car Wizard just released a car video with Acura MDX as well. What a coincidence, just funny but not for a dead battery. Ivan, I like the fact that you do not trust anybody, what they say. I check it for yourself to be sure. Fantastic.

@privateer0561 says:

Part of the problem is that people pay for repairs that aren't repairs. If the shop you use to "repair" your car performs defective work, sue them for it – or file a complaint to Visa/Mastercard for a refund. If they don;t fix it, don't pay them. They won't be in business for long if they make it a regular practice. And don;t bring your car to Monroe for this kind of job. I went to Monroe once – for an emissions test – but that's it.
