I swapped my thermostat and replaced the coolant. Still having issues when its hot outside. What is the part number on that gasket?

Toc Sin says:

Thanks man! Had my 08 Pontiac G6 GXP with the same 3.6L V6 apart last night to replace what I thought was a bad water pump. Water pump is fine, and the leak is above it. I think my problem is exactly like yours, with the outlet pipe gaskets.

First of all, I would like to thank you for giving me some re-assurance by doing the job myself. I could not afford the dealer price or even pepboys who quoted almost a thousand for the pump and two hoses. Secondly, I really didn’t need to remove the front passenger side tires as the entire job was done from the hood. I recommend replacing the water outlet seals as you did and the pump depending upon the miles that you have on your vehicle as preventative maintenance. The job took me about 3.5 hours not having all the easy tools as the shop techs do. The hardest part was slowly preparing the mating surfaces of the water pump.

Thank you for the video- hard to find videos regarding this particular model. I love my Aura, the 3.6L is a great engine. Suspected water pump leaking coolant, will check out later this afternoon.

Great video. Unfortunately my Aura did need a water pump and your video explains perfectly what to do. Btw I rented a serpentin belt tool which easier to use than a breaker bar. Thanks for the advice!!

You are a saint. Probably saved me from buying a water pump I didn't need. I put UV tracer in mine and saw a pool sitting on top of the water pump, would have assumed it was seeping out the seal, but now I'm certain I have the same problem you had. *thank you*!

MP Tuck says:

Excellent video, good job on the explanation of the job.  Thank you!
