This is a brief video of how I changed the spark plugs and the upper engine torque mount on my 2003 Volvo S60 2.4T. I used Bosch Platinum spark plugs, as Bos…

Tom Jones says:

I prefer the multi ground spark plugs, they are around 30$ on Ebay (Bosch).
Maybe it’s just an impression but the engine has a little more torque
compared with the single ground ones.

Chris Hansen says:

to only replace the engine mount, does the intercooler hose ned to be
removed?

Art S says:

USE Volvo plugs I have 2.4T used Bosh for two weeks then the engine started
to run rough, installed Volvo branded no problem. I did gap the Bosh plugs.

james quin roose says:

thank you good video more videos is necesary sorry for my english

Omar Rivera says:

Thank you for taking the time to do this and posting this video! I had my
plugs replaced by Volvo once and was shocked at the price. My fault for not
researching. This video was crazy helpful!! . Didn’t know about the
anti-seize. I did use it, a small amount, and as I threaded it in by hand,
I made it point to come back up a little ad go back down on each one to
make sure it was applied to more of the thread. Again, THANK YOU! Saved me
at least $200!!

czwick69 says:

Is the spark plug process the same for the 1999 volvo s80?

Alexgeo4975 says:

No support is needed. This mount is not a critical point.

7thomas77 says:

any ideas what the squeek could be?

crzi says:

I”m spending over $200 to replace my coil and spark plug could have done it
myself if i watch ur vid! =D

00madmando says:

2:46 Tightening ring???? Worm Clamp.

Art S says:

@czwick69 the process is similar, as the design the same

David Bureau says:

My spark plugs is not Black but grey and dry! (Burned grey)

Steven Roth says:

Very helpful, made it easy! Though I wish the engine mount replacement
actually showed the old mount being taken out, and the new one going in.

Russ Jansen says:

Thank you Alex. You saved me all sorts of grief with your video!

Jose Luis Garcia says:

Thanks Alexgeo4975, for the video on replacing the motor mounts, I was
about to dish out $250 for them.

Alexgeo4975 says:

For the motor mount, push aside the small rubber ‘ears’ and look inside the
circular hole to see if the rubber inside the hole is dried out/cracked.
For the stabilizer bar, just move it around and look for cracked rubber. If
the rubber/plastic bushings look intact and you don’t hear any
metal-on-metal sounds, you’re fine! And yes, play is okay!

David Wiberg says:

Thanks! : )

hueytv says:

the engine mount sounds like a knock not a squeak

teemee234 says:

Thanks for the info, I just got my car back (today!) after spending $300 to
replace just the #5 coil pack! (Exact same model too) I could have done
this and the other four packs and all the plugs for that price, and still
have a few bucks to spare… Lesson learned! I’ll replace the other four
myself!

sweetbounty says:

quite cool manual

christian lopez says:

how hard is it to replace a radiator on a 2003 volvo s60 turbo? how hard is
it taking the front end off

cali1145 says:

Thanks so much! I did the plugs and the engine mount with this video,
thanks so much! Volvo’s rubber is so bad!

brianrhunt says:

Nice work, I will be changing my spark pugs today with confidence thanks to
your video!

Dave B says:

Excellent! Thanks for posting this – I just used it to tackle both jobs
(including 1 coil change). I never would have attempted it without your
video!

AndreaPDub says:

Thank you for this video. I experienced a rough idle and surging when
accelerating last week. I’ve never even changed my own oil, but after
watching your video, I replaced an ignition coil and 5 spark plugs and
fixed the problem for about $120. That includes tools and parts (I didn’t
even own a ratchet). I have a 2001 V70XC and the only difference was that
my spark plugs were much deeper in the engine, so I had to run out and buy
an extension for the plug socket. Thank you!!!!

korbinreid says:

Hey great video! I just replaced #3 ignition coil and all spark plugs. My
question is about the motor mount. I noticed there seems to be a lot of
play in the bar going across the engine. Is this normal. Mine is an 05 and
looks like it has the square motor mount. How do I tell if it is gone bad
or the bushings in the bar ends have gone bad?

Ghosttex says:

The electrical cord you mention at the rear of the engine is the wire from
the lambda/oxygen sensor in the exhaust manifold.

Sam Julier says:

Excellent video. Thank you for taking the time to prepare.

kenny do says:

great job mate, I got a question though, if you use higher performance
spark plugs will it have a negative effect on the engine? I have a 2002 s60
non turbo and I have a strong feeling the plugs need to be changed due to
the moderate ticking noise from my engine when I open the bonnet.

Alex Harden says:

Yh if I was you I would replace them

wdeleonw says:

Can any one give some info on my 2004 Volvo S40 turbo. Everytime when the
AC is on and I put it in reverse, it stalls.

Alexgeo4975 says:

Volvo engines, old and new, are notorious for ticking. Performance spark
plugs might give you a slight boost (maybe if you’re street racing :P) but
I doubt it’ll do anything else. As long as the car drives smoothly, the
ticking is 100% normal on these cars.

7thomas77 says:

there is a squeeking noise coming from the front of the car and i just had
all my front suspension replaced… could it be the torque mount??? was it
squeeking for you?

rotfan77 says:

Thanks for the great video, thanks to you I won’t be breaking anymore coil
on plugs and the wired plug in, the plastic was so old on my clips that the
first two broke when I was removing them (according to a manual). In your
video I found out I could do the job without removing the clips on the coil
first. Thanks again.

bigeandkenna says:

Good video, except you should never put anti- seize compound on spark
plugs. It can cause issues.

KIDFRISCO says:

Great video! Thank You so much for taking the time. You saved me and my
family a few hundred dollars.

Alexgeo4975 says:

No! The spark plugs only need to be changed every 60K miles or so. If the
oil change was done correctly, it should have no effect whatsoever on
engine performance. I suggest you take it to your nearest independent Volvo
mechanic for them to look at!

JNeno77 says:

I have an s80 and i changed the plugs but i noticed one of the plugs hole
had oil in it so when i changed them it starts but drives really slow and
when you brake it takes a while to get going. What d you think it is?

lexusfan100 says:

nice video..also you dont need to to adjust the new OEM spark plug? just
install it directly right?

Alexgeo4975 says:

Fairly hard… Read this: turbobil(DOT)com/SMF/index.php/topic,122.0.html
